Considering DKC TF comes out THIS YEAR, I immediately assumed that the dev teams were split, or at least are currently split, as the game is near completion (from what it seems).

If Platinum Games can juggle two Wii U projects, surely Retro can as well. I remain optimistic.

Ninty needs to keep Platinum on their good side. I want them as a partner for a long time going forward.

Still nothing on the Retro rumor, though... :/

I'd love a new Star Fox, but an HD Metroid Prime game would make me giddy with excitement!

this makes the most sense to me.

the new dk country is a sequel so i think many people at retro had time to concentrate on something new. what do you need for a direct sequel? mostly leveldesigners and some people for textures and animations. the rest can work on a new game

Without a proper source i wouldn't put to much faith into it. But who knows. They revealed TW101 and Game and Wario after the pressconference last year, they could do the same and surprise us this time to.

Metroid is no big seller either mind you. I was looking at the figures the other day, and Metroid Prime 3 was something like the 75th best selling Wii game, and the Trilogy was over 200 in the sales rankings. I hope they're working on a new IP, and I think they probably are. Nintendo probably offered them DK or Metroid as a side project to their main game.

I thought that Retro had 3 teams?

To be fair, nothing on Gamecube was a big seller, and by the time the third game came out, only hardcore fans wanted their hands on it. Starting a brand new trilogy on a new console could provide the opportunity to rejuvenate the franchise.

Could this lead to the possibility of a new Metroid game? Hmm.... Maybe even possible hype....

Gamecube simply didn't have a large enough user base to facilitate many mammoth selling games. I think Prime would fare much better sales wise on Wii U, though.

The thing is, Metroid has soooooo much potential to expand. Their big change for Donkey Kong seems to be new camera angles. Someone call the whoop-de-f***ing-do leaders.

Reggie said in the Game Trailers interview that there is more to be revealed at E3. I don't know if that was before or after the new characters in Smash and Mario Kart TV was revealed, though. Those might be what he was referring to. It looked like it was after the showcase, though. Fingers crossed!
