Topic: Rumor about Retro showing off a new Engine and game on Wednesday

Has anyone else heard this? This could be huge news. I've seen it floated on message boards and on Miiverse.

I want to believe this, but I think the new Donkey Kong Country is Retro's new game. I'll enjoy it, but I'd much rather have another team make the DK game and for Retro be doing something else. Guess we'll find out if the rumour's true tomorrow though!

I have to believe that Retro is making 2 or maybe even 3 games. DK can't be taking up their entire dev team. It just can't.

After making three Metroid games i can't say i'm surprised.

I don't think this is all they've been working on either, but I'm not going to get excited. This Direct was not bad, but I was disappointed because of how excited I was. I don't blame them for not wanting to do yet another Metroid, but I find it hard to believe Nintendo would limit such a talented studio to just 2 very old franchises like that.

We know that Metroid is coming sooner or later. I have to think that Retro is also working on a new Metroid title, most likely Metroid Prime 4 considering the gargantuan success of that franchise and how it lives on with gamers years after the series ended. I really do think that they are making Prime 4, but we just haven't heard about it yet.

I really think they need to be making Prime 4 (and starting a new trilogy with it) and a new IP. They could sell millions and millions with those two titles in addition to DK which, I think, looks brilliant.

Yeah seriously. They'll probably go back to Metroid later in the gen. I'd much rather have them make a new IP entirely. But whatever. I'll enjoy their games either way.

Didn't RETRO divide into like 2 development teams or something? I forget where I read that or if it's even real...

I'm not sure but I read last year or so that the team was supposed to get a lot of new people.

I read that as well. If that is indeed the case, then Nintendo should've announced the other game AT E3!!! Well, I guess we'll see if Retro has anything else to show us this year.

If not, I think Nintendo needs to do another Nintendo Direct in like October and show us the development of HD Zelda, and the Retro game.

... And they need to announce N64, Gamecube, and Sega games from Master System through Dreamcast on the eShop.

Did Donkey Kong Country Returns really sell enough to warrant a full sequel? I would enjoy a new DK game, I loved the previous one, but my disappointment was massive when I realised it was Retro's new game. I hope they're working on a new Metroid in addition.

Whatever happened to that article about Nintendo showing a new Wii U game in 40 min? Also, there is a spot on Nintendos E3 page saying "coming soon". Not saying this might be it but you know.

@Xilef - I noticed that the article disappeared as well. Perhaps somebody jumped the gun?

I've just seen it bouncing around Miiverse mostly. I first saw a post that said "Retro unveiling new engine and new game tomorrow at 4 PM. I hope it's Star Fox or Metroid!" It seemed very precise timing wise to be fake, but I can't find anything on it online.

The article from earlier disappeared because it was based on a misreading of a tweet. The big update was just Mario Kart TV, not a new game.

Game Trailers live stream is the source of the rumor. They say that Retro has 2 big announcements.

Could you post a link? GT is pretty reliable.
