I really never thought I see the day when Nintendo steals this much. I guess copying Smash Bros touched a nerve or something. When I typed "cancelled PS3 360" this is the only one I found.

Are there any other games people know to be cancelled? I didn't follow PS3 or 360 so I don't know any.

I love speculating on this! Let's see, Nintendo hasn't published too many western games before but it is possible (LCU is the only one I can think of). Let's say they will though. I think, based on their current licensing trend of Bayonetta and Devil's Third, I could see them publish Darksiders 3. Nordic seems somewhat quiet on that front and they brought back DS2 on Europe eshop from my understanding.

@sentintator
Brutal Legends 2 comes to mind. I just watched Catalyst and that seems VERY likely. It's a similar tone to the other second party games and it's done by the studio Nintendo as a lot of shares in, so they wouldn't even have to spend too much cash on a partnership.

I'm pretty sure its not the games that were announced for E3.

Perhaps Beyond Good & Evil 2? Ubisoft keeps avoiding questions about it's existence and they did say they have finished Wii U games ready to be released once the userbase grows. Perhaps it was originally coming to PS3/360 or even PS4/XB1, but now it's Wii U exclusive? Ubisoft would put in effort if its Nintendo funding it.

Also, apparently Reggie said this in an interview (about Devil's Third): It’s the same thinking that has us securing Bayonetta 2. For us, it’s important to have a range of content. Our developers know the developers of these various series. For us it’s a great business opportunity.

Hard to narrow it down in terms of connections because of Sakurai though, who has many connections.

Reading what you put here I'm inclined to believe Catalyst is one of them. They are with Nintendo for an exclusive deal.

I can't see it being Beyond Good and Evil or Shenmue. It is more likely independent studios. Those two are in more control of Sega and Ubisoft so they could go multiplat.

They need to do this, to fill out the release schedule. It's highly unlikely any of these exclusives will make Nintendo back the money they spend to secure them, but Nintendo aren't a third party that has to make money on every release. They can take a hit on stuff like Platinum and Mistwalker games, knowing it will boost their machine's image and sales numbers, which in turn will bring in more money later. It's a good idea.

Mistwalker or bust.

Four more months until Bayonetta 2.

Beyond Good and Evil 2 would be a good fit for the U and it's users if marketed right. It would be an insta buy for me! Can't see UBISoft doing that though.

I think its less of an exclusive deal and more Next Level Games actually choosing to work on Nintendo exclusively. The rumor with them though is that they're working on Metroid for 3DS, though that might be debunked thanks to the interview with Miyamoto and Takahashi.

As for Shenmue, it could happen considering how close Sega and Nintendo are. Sonic is exclusive right now after all.

If that was the case then we all need a second Wii U!

Capcom does fit but I doubt Nintendo bought the company. They did get REp for a time.

Beyond Good and Evil 2 could be one of them. Ubisoft's CEO did say that if it's not an indie game using UbiArt or a blockbuster series, they probably won't make it. BG&E2 doesn't fit either of those criteria, so I doubt Ubisoft gives a damn about it. Plus, if Nintendo is paying for it, why not? Releasing a critically loved, low selling game and not having to pay for it? Win-win in Ubisoft's eyes.

On a side note, I'd like to see Nintendo revive games for 3DS as well coughMegaManLegends3cough

Faith and a .45 could be cool to see again. It had a neat premise.
Though I get the feeling that any more picked up projects are going to be from Japanese developers. So I assume it'll either be something from a Japanese development team or something THQ was sitting on.

This is an interesting and smart approach by Nintendo, resurrecting titles that have been dead in the water. Though I doubt anything will make as big of a splash as Bayonetta 2 did, this is still a sneaky and smart approach.

Great news. Nintendo is really kicking and taking names. These third party exclusives that they snatch negate the need for other consoles. You can't do better than bayonetta and devils third in these genres.

Games that come to mind are:
1. Catalyst - Next Level Games: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=56ePxA5B3Jg
Reason: Next Level Games have said that they are now making games exclusively for Nintendo platforms, one of their two teams hasn't released
anything since 2010 and they halted work on one project in 2012 to shift focus to LM2.
2. Ni-Oh - Team Ninja: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j14e9zTnVbk
Reason: The last trailer we saw for this was at TGS 2005, with a intended release date of summer 2006. The developer went really silent after that
and the next update didn't come till 2009. In 2012 they confirmed that the game had completed it's alpha dev cycle, and that work was continuing
steadily. I've heard that Nintendo didn't begin to send out Wii U dev kits till late 2011, so the development cycle would seem to fit.
3. Winter - n-Space: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtoKcJOEI7A
Reason: This game has been in development for a long time. It was first announced in 2007 and the last update we got was in 2012, when
one of the developers said that they were still looking for the right opportunity. 2 years later and we still haven't heard more about this game.
The only reason this isn't out already is that back in 2007 publishers weren't as open to new IPs as they are now and they all thought that a horror
game wouldn't sell well on the Wii anyway. Fast forward to 2014 and Nintendo seems to be picking up Hardcore games left and right.

Ni-Oh or Cry-On could be interesting. Anyone think Nintendo and Capcom are collaborating on a Mega Man game of some sort? The reaction to his inclusion in Smash Bros has been tremendous, proving he is still relevant. Who knows, maybe that's Sakurai's next project after Smash Bros.
