Ryno

Is there a thread for the Wii U version (and Wii version if you preorder) yet? If so, I apologize.

So here's the skinny for those that don't know. This game was originally created by Yuji Naka (former head of Sonic Team) and was developed on Wii in 2011. A 3DS version was outsourced to Kadokawa games without much input from Naka's input . Kadokawa has been sitting on it until recently and so the made a Wii U version which is actually the 3DS version upscaled. Most people are interested in the Wii version that comes with preorders of the game.

Anyway, Limited Edition available up for preorder on NISA's website (North America)! http://store.nisamerica.com/rodea-the-sky-soldier

Artwork looks beautiful. I will wait for European release.

The controls seem limited. I think the only way to move is the clicking the spot you want, so regular movement controls dont apply

Agreed, the art does look beautiful. The in-game artwork doesn't look quite as beautiful, but it has a graphical style that I appreciate and enjoy.

Agreed, I'd gladly snap this special edition the moment it gets an EU confirmation. I wonder if it comes with the first print Wii version though. It it's not included and I can only get the first print Wii version separately, that's a decision I wouldn't like having to make.

That is only the Wii version (Only one I am interested in). The others are normal (But 3DS has an awful framerate).

A bit bizarre, why wouldn't the Wii U version feature multiplayer.

Because the Wii U version is nothing more then an upscaled 3DS "port." The Wii version is the only real deal.

It is annoying because I just want the Wii version I don't want to give any impression whatsoever that I think the 3DS / Wii U versions should ever have happened like that.

-Created by Yuji Naka, other versions were handled by Kadokawa games without his input
-More action oriented and faster
-Controls better with Wiimote
-Runs at 60 fps on Wii. (Wii U version is 30 fps, 3DS version is 20 fps)
-Better graphics with brighter colors

I already wanted the edition with the Wii version, but now I really want it!

Skullcruncher

I gotta admit the limited edition looks amazing. I need to see more of this game in order to be sold though.

The game sold like 2000 in its first week in Japan, and even less on the 3DS. I'm honestly surprised they're doing a limited edition, as cool as it looks

RR529

They covered this game in the latest episode of Imagine-Nation (a show that discusses recent video game & anime/manga happenings).

  • You move around normally while on the ground. You have the ability to shoot at enemies while on the ground (maybe while in the air as well, but I don't recall them doing so).
  • To fly you double jump to enter flight mode. You'll float in place (slowly decending) until choosing where you want to go with the reticule. Then you'll go blasting off in that direction.
  • You appear to lock on to an enemy when attacking, and you have the ability to target more than one enemy at a time (I think up to 5), where you'll go flying through all of them.
  • Flight requires energy, which can be replenished by landing, or by "kicking off" structures (though less is replenished with the latter method).
  • At the end of each level is a boss of Shadow of the Colossus proportions. You'll fly around it hitting all it's weak points (which open up only once the last one has been hit).
  • The story features a mechanical empire from the surface, and a sky kingdom that's in tune with nature.
  • A young girl unearths Rodea, who has amnesia. Shortly after he's awakened the mechanical empire invades, and he decides to protect the girl's homeland (and hopefully regain his memories in the process).
  • Maybe a point of worry. When the hosts were allowed to demo the game, the camera was either really finicky, or the host just wasn't very good controlling it (while fighting the first boss, the camera got under Rodea, where you couldn't see the boss). While interviewing the Kadokawa Games director who was in charge of the project, he said the analog pad controls felt really wonky, and they spent a lot of time adjusting them (though he said it still takes a bit to warm up to them).
