Well, I guess everyone is entitled their own opinion. If he thinks this is the end for Nintendo or something along those lines, he can think that. I know Nintendo sure doesn't think that and I don't either. It's way too early to be calling their death in my opinion.
That's because they won't. Sony will overpower and win all. Nintendo will fall into a pit of casual gamers and be forced to play carnival games and wii fit for the rest of their lives, never to resurface.
oye. I'm getting sick of the gloom and doom predictions for Ninendo. Are they doing worse then usual? Sure, that much is obvious. But its not like they're doing THAT bad. Plus I feel like the 3DS will finally really get off the ground this holiday season. After Mario Kart and 3D Land are out the 3DS's position will be fine. And I have faith in the Wii U.
That guy's a terrible finance and business writer. Nintendo will indeed never be as great as it was, but for none of the reasons that he wrote in that article.
I swear when it comes to videogames, journalism is like a five year old trying to write a book analysis on War and Peace.

People said the same thing during the N64 and GameCube eras, and then Nintendo hit 2 home runs with the DS and Wii. People also said Sony was unstoppable, and then came the PSP and PS3. Sony seems to be bouncing back with the Vita and growing PS3 popularity. If Sony can bounce back, then Nintendo can too. They just need a hit game to boost 3DS sales.
Nintendo never being able to replicate the hardware sales of the Wii and DS? That's a given.
Nintendo dying, as the short article suggests? I can't see that happening in the next five years.

Who are these "people"? It sure as heck wasn't the business analysts.
Nintendo won't be as great as it was before because of market conditions entirely outside of its control. The N64 and GC were bad products (well, from the perspective of coming up with a mass-selling product, the games on those consoles were great). That's why Nintendo took a hit back in those days. It no longer matters if Nintendo comes up with an utterly genius console.
Nobody should actually say that unless they can see the future.
I'm sorry but you're in no way qualified to say that futurism is a inaccurate science.

Wow dude, that's really offensive.... to five year olds.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
Didn't Sony's shares go down too? Does that mean they're failing?
Oh yes. Sony is struggling mightily. This isn't a Nintendo vs. Sony debate.
Not yet anyway I'm just pointing out that other companies' shares went down too
If you're going to point out Japanese companies that are struggling in the market, you're going to end up with a very long list. I'd be better off doing a Wikipedia copy paste quote
Nintendo is not even a real gaming console anymore. Its like comparing a PS3 to a little gimmick Digi-Pet Toy

In other news, Reginald Epicurus predicts that soon Cooking Mama and derivative games will surpass the FPS in popularity.
And here I'd read that Raymond Socrates had attributed that eventual honor to the Imagine series. Guess we'll have to wait and see whose prediction reigns supreme :3
