The only time I lost my barcode was on my DS Lite, which didn't have digital downlaods

I don't know about you, but I don't know anybody who keeps the boxes after they decide they want to keep something. You'd have to write it down somewhere, and that would require knowing about the fact that you need it in the first place. That free service isn't exactly well advertised, unfortunately.
I keep the boxes but the code is also on the system itself

Nothing beats a physical copy. Having the actual cart, inserts, manual and box for an NES/SNES game is just too awesome.
DL just feels lacking, incomplete and empty.
I like going physical too, but the NES is an exception. VC doesn't just save you space, time, and money, it saves you the headache of dealing with the NES carts and hardware.
Blowing's for noobies, it's all about Q-tipping.
Once you clean the dirt off of the inner area the carts works like a charm bud!
Exactly. NES was high maintenance. You won't have to hold in the reset button while you press power either. You're free of all that nonsense when emulating on the VC.
I keep the boxes. Anyways tie your system to your Club Nintendo account. If you accidently break or loose a physical game there's no way your going to get a replacement on that ever. I had a friend who's Wii got stolen. Nintendo offered to sell him a Wii directly from them but at 75 dollars but he got back all of his downloads. They did something with the other Wii's Serial Number but I am not sure what. Something about using the internet or something. Everything he had downloaded was on his Club Nintendo account.
Yeah $75 isn't bad if you have over 75 VC downloads and it'll be even better with WiiU if you have a lot of WiiU games downloaded

Too bad the NES VC emulations are piss poor in the brightness and color department(especially if you're using composite) The colors are completely washed out, nasty and dark. You basically have to max out the color on your TV set to make them look decent, or close enough to how they were on the NES. Otherwise, they look awful.
I honestly do not know what you are talking about. My vc nes downloads look just as good as my actual nes games..

Funny, usually when I run an NES game through an Emulator, it looks brighter than the Original. I don't have an NES to compare, but I've yet to play a Wii NES game that looked ugly. Sure it's not your TV?
My original tv was crap so I can't complain about anything now. (I sometimes had to jiggle the cords so it would stop going wavy but I still had white specs).
