Topic: Refurbished Wii U?

One of my older brothers has finally decided to get a Wii U. He has a PS3, but he wants something that's more focused on fun games. Anyway, I'm looking at the Nintendo refurbished Wii U, but I was hoping to hear from people with experience before recommending it. Specifically, I'm wondering about the processing and shipping time, which always seems to say they have a shortage. The site says the systems ship in a few days, but is that accurate? I'm also curious about the condition of the refurbished systems. I'm sure they work great, but do they look great too? The site mentions blemishes, and he wouldn't want a beat up system.

I don't have an experience with one but have generally heard good feedback.

I ordered a refurbished 2DS from Nintendo's online store and it was sent on time and it's in great shape.

I got a refurbished system. It looks brand new with exception of a sticker or two and the box saying refurbished. When I ordered mine it had the warning about delayed shipping time, but it still went out the next business day and I received it in 2 days (I paid for the 2 day shipping).

If he does go refurbished, he should just add on the extended gamepad battery on to the same order. It is totally worth the ~$30.

Mine arrived in a few days and has worked perfectly since. Looks great too.

Thanks for the feedback! He'll probably be getting the refurbished Wii U from Nintendo. $100 off is a great deal, especially, since there don't seem to be many Wii U discounts at retailers this year.
