Hi,

So I finally got my Wii U today. The dreaded updates I keep hearing about went pretty good taking a total of 20 minutes to download and install. I have 4 games Sonic All Star Racing, ZombiU, FIFA 13, Call Of Duty BO2.

At the moment I have only tried 2 games, Call Of Duty and FIFA. I was pretty shocked and a little disappointing by the graphics compared to the PS3/360. FIFA was the worse of the 2. It looked more like a DS game compared to the 360/PS3 graphics. I tried on both TV and tablet.

Call Of Duty again looked a little worse than the PS3/360 version but not a lot. Am just hoping Sonic does not let me down. Normally I am not bothered about graphics. But with this system being less than a month old and the games look worse than the other 2 consoles that has been out for 6/7 years. This is bad. I love the system I really do and I am exited to dig my teeth into ZombiU (see what I did there). But if developers are just going to port PS3/360 games to the Wii U then I can see a lot of people just trading up and wait for the PS4/NextBox.

They're launch titles made in a short amount of time and not developed for the system.

Still, that seems kind of odd, because I've been playing Darksiders 2 all day on the Wii U and I've been seeing no sense of inferiority. I've watched a lot of videos on the Wii U version of COD too and I don't see any difference. You sure there's a big difference there?

Yep what moomoo said is true. These titles were just made in a rush so that companies could cash in on the launch of the Wii U. If you look at some of the original games that were being made for Wii U and were going to be a launch game like Lego City and Rayman have been delayed till next year. I am sure that the next batch of games will be better.

@Moomoo: I agree I have seen gameplay videos of Arkham City for both Wii U and Xbox and dont see any difference. I am beginning to think that this bad port nonsense is just Sony/Microsoft fanboy talk against the Wii U.

I got batman wii u and it rocks ... Catwoman is fast as a cheatah...

I tried COD again and I still think imo looks just that tiny bit worse than the other consoles but it will looks pretty good. FIFA is just shocking imo. Am playing Sonic All Stars now and this looks identical to the PS3 version (I only have the PS3 demo to compare).

Are you playing on an HD TV with HDMI cables? If not, then I don't see how you can compare the two fairly.

The two versions are in fact the same game just on different platforms with different control schemes. I have yet to play it on Wii U, but from what I've heard, it's visually superior to the other console versions. Slightly, of course.

The games play the exact same, right?

Then don't complain.

When are people going to step back and :
(1) compare launch title graphics not launch title graphics with 6-years-worth-of-development graphics?
I remember quite well and the launch graphic for the Wii U are superior when you stack them up against the 360's and PS3's launch-era graphics
(2) and while I'm ranting - and this is OT - stop complaining about the backward compatibilty. The Wii emulator emulates the whole darn Wii - a full virtual machine - unlike the Wii's GC and the PS3's on-again/off-again PS2 compatability modes.

Yeah, I don't think most of the games are really "rushed", per se. From what I can tell, most of the noteworthy games have so few differences in terms of how well they run when compared to its counterparts or simply have none that are noticable. To be honest, the differences between most of the games might as well be the difference between 360 and PS3. I honestly can't tell.

How can you, in any way, compare Sonic All Star Racing's graphics to Motorstorm's? That's like comparing Super Mario Galaxy 2's graphics to Rayman Origins'.

No doubt, that EA cashed in w/ quick ports, and that's why they are crappier. Just for the record, they copied and pasted pretty much everything, but then added animations to take place of the real physics engine on the PS3/Xbox 360 version for Wii U. I've heard COD is better on Wii U, because of Gamepad, Pro, Wii remote w/ nunchuck, and Classic controller support. I've also heard the Wii U's version runs better overall, EXCEPT for small issues that show for .01% of the total game that people always seem to notice. Oh ya the online has less people, too, but at least you won't have to waste your money, or even concentrate very hard to find a compatible headset for online chat. The other ports show SO little of difference really(besides the EA games), but with a ton of extra options for controllers besides the Gamepad, the Wii U really does shine brighter IMO for a better game console.

Well, think of it this way. The Wii U is handling poor, yet similar, ports at launch that took developers 6-7 years of learning last-gen hardware to accomplish. Now imagine if the Wii U were actually part of the development cycle rather than tacked on at the end.

Everyone is saying the Wii U is still new but the problem is that it shouldn't be struggling with these games its a brand new console which is meant to be more powerful but it's struggling with pretty much every game that is a multi platform game. It should be doing these games with ease and then in 5 years or so it will be at its most amazing as the developers no what there doing. The fact that it is struggling with these games already is not a good sign.
