I can't wait six months. That's dumb. And I can't see how this game can be on any other system. How will the player be Murphy? Regular controls seem unfitting, using Playstation Move controller seems fitting but expensive, and using Kinect to control Murphy would be a nightmare.

Classic Sonic will always be the number 1 Sonic! I think Modern Sonic's great but will never beat my original Classic Sonic.

That is why I think the WiiU version will be the best

The Wii U version may still end up being the best, but the fact is that you have people focused on it now and in seven months a lot of things will happen and one of them is that this game will no longer be as fresh in their minds. You'll also likely have a competing title from Nintendo to contend with like that Yoshi yarn game. Launching the Wii U demo this early just seems bizarre if it still has seven months of development in it, which I seriously doubt.

With the early launch you'd have a pretty clear field with the only competing platform games being inexpensive download-only titles and the Mario game which was a day-one release and not in direct competition. The delay could cost Ubisoft thousands of sales on Wii U - it just doesn't make a lot of sense.

I was going to skip New Super Mario Bros. U in favour of this, but with that long a delay and few notable releases I could play with my daughter known (she's really keen for Pikmin 3, but who knows when that will come out), I may well end up buying it instead of Rayman!

@Sean_Aaron
I totally agree with you that delaying the WiiU version is not a smart move. If the other platforms are going to have to wait anyways why not release the WiiU version now? Make money off a released title and put that money into porting it to other systems and then make more money.

They announced that all the gameplay with Murphy is Wii U only. Great, that means we get to have the game play itself for us.

Loss of exclusivity is one thing, but a seven month delay? The game is almost certainly gold by now, they're just gonna sit on it while the lack of competition fades.

Hype for this game for me has died. Another wait after launch delay, this time 7 months just to launch alongside other consoles. Think ill just cancel preorder and get when cheap. Very disappointing this close to release.

I did the same exact thing, except the reason why I got NSMBU is because I love Mario so much! :P

Why would you buy a console for a game that you know wasn't going to be out when you purchased your console?

At the very least, he could have preordered it at a time when Rayman was scheduled to release at Christmas, saw that it was delayed, but decided to stick with the preorder.

I know I did the same, for Scribblenauts.

In amongst all the rage, did anyone stop to think that the delayed release is likey so that Ubisoft only needs to run one marketing campaign, rather than two separate ones for a staggered release?

No?

Well, there's your reason then.

But it's 6 flipping months Bankai! That is half a year we have to wait! It was 3 weeks before release, and they drop this ball on us? Can you see why people are upset at least?

The delayed release makes total financial sense for Ubisoft in every way. Easier marketing, higher sales numbers that can be padded by including all consoles, and a wider audience in a world where big-budget games like this that sells less than a few million just don't turn a profit. If Rayman Origins is any example, that game was AWESOME and yet still only sold something like 2 million copies across ALL concoles (Wii, 360, PS3, and maybe even including the 3DS). That's not good for a big budget game across at least 3 major consoles.

So this just makes sense, guys. The Wii U only has an install base of around 3 million people right now. Don't take it as anything personal, it's just the reality of the situation.

What DOES aggravate me, though, is the weak-minded or malicious individuals who try to spin this into a story of Nintendo's demise. I'm a WoW player- I know what it's like to be constantly told that your favorite game/company is suddenly going to go bankrupt. WoW's death has been foretold for over 8 years now, and the game is still out there and still going strong. I can't help but see the same venom towards Nintendo by a lot of the internet. Don't lose heart!

Well to be honest, I read on Neogaf, someone summised that were Ubi to release it on the WiiU in February, come September, XBOX and PS3 owners might be upset that they are being asked to pay $50 for a game that's $15 secondhand on the Wii U.

It's an unfortunate event, but it can't be helped.

Ubisoft could have been a bit more transparent about it though.

People are upset that a 2D platformer that was ready to go gold was delayed seven months (after another two month delay) to coincide with another release date.

If you need ten months to bug fix a 2D platformer, you must have some real bad developers.
