Can I use those controllers for my Wii so I can play VC titles and my old GC games? I don't have a "Wii U".

Yes, GameCube controllers work on Wii

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

No.
Edit: oh wait, the controllers themselves yes (if your Wii supports them), it is the adaptor itself the one you can't use.

I believe the controllers you are asking about are simply classic controllers in the form factor of a gamecube controller. Yes, since the Wii U sees these controllers the same as any other classic controller you can use it to play virutal console on the virtual Wii.

They will also work like classic controllers on any Wii.

As far as I know they are simply regular game cube controllers with a special adaptor that enables the wiiu to recognize them.

Straight from PDP's website (http://www.pdp.com/info/E32014):

"Compatible with all Wii/Wii U games that support Classic Controller and Classic Controller Pro, as well as most Nintendo Virtual Console games"

Morphbug, the OP is talking about the PDP "Wired Fight Pad", not the Smash GameCube controller + Wii U adapter that Nintendo is releasing.

Thanks for the responses.

Oh, so its a Cube controller that works like a Classic Controller. That'll be useful for anyone with a Wii without Game Cube backward compatibility.

Also, Wii U owners who don't want to by a converter box.

Hopefully its of decent construction.
