I already hate my Wii U Username, back in Dec I didn't know what I really wanted and since thought up better names. I have no problem deleting my account and making a new one, except I have a lot of stuff saved on the console in Wii Mode such as a my precious Xenoblade save file as well as the regular ones locked to the system and I don't want to loose them. So bascially deleting my account for a new name would I loose all my Wii connect (mainly my save files?)

I think everything in Wii Mode is not tied to an account. Try creating your new account first and see if you can access the save files in it. If so, you're safe to delete the old account, though I will warn you that certain Wii U games tie the save files to your account.

Thank you, I made a new account, unlinked my club account in eshop and linked on new account and everything is as it should be. I've only Lost my NSMBU save file, but that games easy enough to start again. My copy of Balloon Fight remains on the console to play and all Wii Mode material is safe.

I changed my username also. But I made the mistake of not unlinking my Club Nintendo before I deleted the old user, OOPS!. And couldn't find a way to unlink it once it was deleted. So I made a new Club Nintendo account and linked it to that. I didn't know what else to do.

Did you look at the Nintendo Support website? I thought I saw something there about unlinking Club Nintendo accounts through the website. In fact, I think I saw a link to do so on the Club Nintendo website...

I did look but I couldn't find anyway to unlink it from the web. I even did a internet search and from what I read it has to be unlinked from the eShop. The good things were. I didn't have any coins left on Club Nintendo to spend I had already used everything I had. And my original Wii was already long gone before I got the WiiU so I didn't have any Wii stuff transferred on the WiiU. Plus I had not bought anything for the WiiU yet from the eShop at that time I changed users. I'm not really worried about it, I just had to start over with Club Nintendo thats all.

I just recently changed my NNID, too. My old name was kinda weird, and my brother had the main influence on the choice, but I changed it to something similar that I had originally wanted. I still kept the other ID for my bro, and to use the last $13 or so I had left. I'll just buy a $15 game or something, and use a debit card for the remainder.

I also got the impression I would loose my NSMBU save file. But it's still there so they are also tied to the console, (at least those of physical retail discs).

Like I said, depends on the Wii U game. Out of my games, NSMBU and Nintendo Land does not tie save files to the accounts. All my other games do.
