Article pretty much sums up the abysmal launch of the PS4. And with Super Mario 3D World, then DKCR:TF, Mario Kart 9, Smash Bros. and another Zelda, I think Wii U still has a chance after all. This has happened before (3DS) and will happen again....
While I'm not a particular fan of the article (it's too anger-driven to be respectable journalism), the facts don't lie; in the eyes of the critics, it seems that the Wii U had a better exclusive launch lineup of games than the Playstation 4. However, it should also be noted that there are far more third-party games on the PS4 than the Wii U, two of which being Battlefield 4 and Need for Speed: Rivals. Both of those games (currently) have very good review scores and are being heavily praised.

It's not surprising, Sony hasn't had a decent launch line up since the PS1. Rayman, Battle Arena Toshinden and Ridge Racer were the toobular-tripod of awesome sauce that hasn't been matched in SonyVille since.
Sony hasn't had a system as good as the PS1, I think. But then again, I don't think anybody has!
But hey, we can agree on one thing for sure. The PS4 launch was better than the PS3 one.
I absolutely loved the PS1 during it's first year in 1995 and 96. The console is the definition of Variety, something that the N64 was totaly lacking(everything was 3D polygons, where were my precious 32-bit sprites?)...but towards the end of it's life span it descended into a dark turd which perfectly matched the total suckage of the decade it's self, aka > the late 90's. Anyhoo, I would love to see a Tomba sequel....But knowing Sony, they'd turn his pink hair to black, give him fangs and stick a tommy gun in his hand.
You didn't even like Ridge Racer Type 4, Crash 3, Dino Crisis 2, Front Mission 3, Legend of Mana, Spyro: YotD, Grandia, Wild Arms 2, Medal of Honor, Chrono Cross, Vandal Hearts II, Gran Turismo 2, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Vandal Hearts, Crash Team Racing, Metal Slug X, Castlevania Chronicles, and a million others? Aw, well, I just worship that 32-bit grey top loader.
But yeah, I kind of thought the PS4 launch games would be better received, but, sometimes this is just the way it goes I guess.
I had no interest in Wii U launch games, and no interest in PS4 launch games. In fact, I had no interest in PS3 or 360 launch games either, but the difference is when all those consoles launched we were being told and shown what was coming in the future. At E3 six month before the Wii came out, they showed us a lot of Mario Galaxy, a game not coming out for another 18 months, and it built up the hype. Microsoft showed us Gears of War with the same time fame, 6 months before the console launched, and 18 months before the game arrived. I know Sony are going to have games aimed at gamers from top studios like Naughty Dog, Media Molecule and Sony Santa Monica, while right now I'm not sure what Nintendo are planning. Part of me is worried that what they've done turning Mario into a casual/multiplayer title is what they could do to Zelda and other great traditionally single player games.
Which is almost as many units Wii U has sold in the US over a whole year, so I don't think the metacritic scores for the games matter at all.
Actually, the Wii U sold 425,000 in the U.S. in its first week (and 3 million after a year).
197,000 PS3s and 326,000 Xboxes sold in the first two weeks.
Personally, I wonder how many of those PS4's were with that blue pulse of death thing.
Don't all console launches pull those sort of numbers at launch? Usually early sales for consoles are restricted by supply more than demand. And usually the units shipped are much higher because of delays in distribution.
You could have probably said the same thing about the Wii U at launch if you had the "right" source.
