With E3 getting closer by the day I figured I would talk about a game we have mostly forgotten about that will probably be big news. Project Treasure.

What do we think it will be?

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I don't touch pay to win. (I do respect Namco for actually referring it by that name when it comes to why the pay to win Soul Calibur doesn't have multiplayer).

The only payment model I can see me even giving it a chance with (Whilst being a free download) is a really good demo equivalent and either pay for the rest in bits (All being about the same cost as a normal game) or one payment for the rest.

I don't expect it to be like that the whole model relies on the gigantic payments from a tiny fraction of users.

Though I think this sounds like a gauntlet/diablo type game according to the description.

Actually it's not pay to win it's free to play...THERE IS A DIFFERENCE. Facepalm

Regardless I will download this and enjoy this as a time-killer, but I won't pay any money, unless the dlc is a permanent pass for all features like Lucadian Chronicles has and is a reasonable price.

I am very interested in how this game will work. I agree with @Captain_Toad and think it will be some type of action RPG. I wonder how the F2P model will be used in this game.

I kinda like the idea to pay for levels, but I also worry that the prices would be really high for that.

Much better ways to kill time than something which has the sole purpose of trying to get you to spend money.

There are acceptable Free models (Dota 2 / Team Fortress 2 / The new Unreal Tournament) cannot imagine this will be one of them. (Look at Tales of Phantasia).

I mentioned "Pay to Win" due to one of Namco's developers actually being honest and referring to it as that in an interview.

How would it be pay to win without a competitive multiplayer mode? Right now all we know is that it is 4 Player Co-Op.

The iOS IAP for Lego Star Wars is quite fair I think (And it supports my Horipad perfectly). 1/6th of the Game for Free (Story mode only for Phantom Menace) the rest for a single IAP of £7.

No ad's or any other unacceptable things in either version.

Anything where paying money confers an advantage is pay to win.

Watch a video about how the strategy works.

Something fun for 15 mins extended for 2 hrs or pay that sort of thing. Maybe it is ok if you don't value your time (Or have stuff that isn't like that you can play instead).

The only ok "Free to Play" is where everything is cosmetic and doesn't affect gameplay whatsoever.

I hate FTP, just let me buy the game and experience it without annoying limitations and nagging messages. I'm not going to waste money on the payed features anyway.

So in a single player game, being able to buy a very powerful weapon that lets you kill an enemy faster is considered pay to Win? Even when you can play the game normally and defeat that enemy without paying?

I don't think F2P is only acceptable when it comes to cosmetic things. League of Legends is a great game and considered a good example of F2P but you still have to grind for IP to get characters you want if you don't want to spend money, is League of Legends considered Pay to Win?

The more I think about it, the more I want it to be levels that you purchase to experience and gain the loot in those levels. Some of the loot might be exclusive to dropping in those levels. So you want a particular weapon, you may need to buy a level and play until it drops. This would probably be the best way to get people to experience as much content as possible while not forcing content on everyone. Also they could hold free weekends for some levels. This would be a really good move to build a loyal fanbase. But under the Pay to Win description above, this would be considered a Pay to Win game. So maybe they need to do something else. But I don't believe that everything paid should only be cosmetic in a F2P game.

EDIT: Basically the levels would be tiny little pieces of DLC. Maybe throw in some consumables like XP boosts and Attack Power Boosts too. Completely optional consumables but something that they can continue to make money off of without having to create new content.

I am not sure how old a thread has to be before it is considered to old. I tried looking under other topics but didn't find it.

League of Legends is pay to win. (DOTA 2 is not).

RPG elements reward all the wrong things and turn it from a game into a monotonous slog.

Instead of the player improving the game gets easier.

It needs to be at least six months old to be considered "too old".

Well, since that thread is still viable and in the correct section, I guess we could continue this there.

Bloop.
