Why is everyone so trusting of Sakurai and yet everyone says Melee is better than Brawl? Brawl completely lost focus of the Smash Bros. series. The stages were ridiculous, the adventure mode was long and boring, the addition of tripping and making everyone floaty, etc. That was all Sakurai. Why is he so trusted all of a sudden? The only thing that makes him better than anyone else is his experience. Plus, we know his attitude on things. If someone doesn't like the way he does things, then there's something wrong with that person.

I really have to disagree on that one.
I loved melee, but Brawl is my favorite smash bros yet. (Yes even though it had tripping)
@DudeSean Just because Brawl wasn't the best entry in the series doesn't mean Sakurai is a bad developer. Uprising was sheer proof he still cares about the quality of the game he's working on. A lot of people will disagree with your opinion on brawl anyways.
Sakurai is just going to take Smash Bros. even farther from what made the original n64 version so great.
Then again, I've had nothing but issues with Brawl. I drove 60 miles to get the game at the midnight release only to discover that my wii couldn't play it and so I had to send my wii in and wait two weeks to play it. Then, not once have I ever had an online match where there wasn't at least a full second of lag.
I find the tripping to be funny, myself. I like how it annoys people. But I know it's an unpopular feature.
I loved Brawl, stages that just stood there and did nothing...they were boring. I love the chaotic stages like Norfair, as well stages like Spear Pillar that kept things interesting.

Keep it PG-13-ish.
Well I hope all goes well, from what i heard Soul Calibur 5 has one of the best online functionalities ever (hope that transfers over to Smash). If the Tekken/SC/Tales team are working on it then we can expect great results since they're the best Namco has to offer. Also with better online services I'm expecting really cool future DLC (new stages, new characters, rebalancing, etc.) I for one am extremely optimistic.
The only negative thing I have to say is well, Nintendo's approach to making things better for newcomers which basically means making things simpler and making things worse for the hardcore Smash fanatic.
Personally I liked Melee the least out of the 3 games. The original is probably my favourite. I liked how Brawl went back to being fun and chaotic especially with the Final Smashes and some of the crazier levels in it. Melee just felt a little too "controlled" for my tastes.
@Miss_Birdo It'd be nice to see some SD Gundams as well. I'm sure the midget sized robots could fit in, though maybe they'd work better as assist trophies.

Melee didn't get chaotic? I think otherwise. That one got the most crazy to me. It was also the most competitive one, I think.
Competitive does not equate to chaotic. That's a misconception. Chaotic is when an explosive barrel drops down right in the middle of a group fight and kills everyone and everyone bursts into laughter. That randomness occurred the most in the original Smash Bros and since then hasn't been properly replicated (Final Smashes and Smash Trophies I feel were a step in the right direction). That was back when items were ridiculously overpowered and everyone was pretty easy to kill at relatively low percentages.

I said and was also the most competitive. Two different things. Melee's overpowered items are what made it so chaotic. That's just what I think, but oh well.
I found Brawl to exceed Melee in all aspects. Melee is a broken mess, incomplete even (Sakurai even said this, folks). All this wavedashing and crap tech were not even supposed be in the game and made the game into something it shouldn't be. Keeping it real: Brawl is more balanced than Melee. Let me explain:
In Melee, two characters in particular were used in the competitive seen the most compared to others. Fox and Falco.
C. Falcon, Marth, Shiek, Peach and Luigi were other popular characters in the competitive scene.
Compared to Brawl, Melee's competetive scene is really limited and match.-ups were extremely flawed. You can jab-lock with Fox, wash, rinse and repeat and you win. You can't do that in Brawl. It's not to say Brawl doesn't have flaws- one is Falco's Laser shots at someone on the ground and unable to get up. Ice Climbers can do something similar too. Then again, it can be done with most of the characters in Brawl, even Ness. Also, Chaingrabs. But those are easy to get out of if you're familiar with directional influence.
And finally, the tripping in Brawl. I don't mind if characters trip each other with a d-tilt. But the random has to go.
Those are my only 3 gripes in regards to flawed gameplay mechanics in Brawl that pale in comparison to Melee's. Character-wise, MK is too fast and OP and doesn't properly represent the way he is in Kirby's games. Snake is a mess- hitbox is broken, he can grab someone who a bit far from his reach and his kneejab has a greater reach than ZSS' forward tilt. Outrageous.
So, that's it for my qualms. Melee is stil a great game but it's far more broken than Brawl.
I hope they don't bring back the Mario Bros. Stage...
"Good. Everyone's together. Pyrrhon loves a party." "...It's funny because marriage is terrible!" If you know the origin of both of those quotes, then you're awesome! Songs are like hugs that mouths give to ears. Dreams are easy to achieve if hope is all...
