Topic: Preparing for Pikmin 3 and Wii reprints

While I am excited for Pikmin 3, one of the reviews I read said it was so good it left you wanting more... so I decided to get more! Good thing the Wii U plays Pikmin 1-2 for the Wii.

Pikmin 1 ran me about $55 (new) from eBay unfortunately, Pikmin 2 was a little easier to find at $20 (new). So why isn't Nintendo re-releasing Pikmin 1-2 to help market Pikmin 3? The games are already done and it seems like no-brainer. I'm not saying they have to be HD Wii U remakes (but that would be easy enough, like the PS3 HD remakes), but how about reprinting some regular Wii classics for your totally backwards compatible Wii U system?

Why did I have to spend $125 for Metroid Prime Trilogy (for an exceptionally nice mint never played but opened copy) while reading news reports that the Wii U is short on software and not selling enough units? Surely not everyone has had their Pikmin 1-2 and Metroid Prime Trilogy fill, not with new and quasi new prices like this. And there is always the NEW players... and Nintendo is just going to sit on that software and not reprint it??? How about a digital download that's not tied to a piece of hardware? I'd take that too.

But the universe has a balance to it. Kirby's Epic Yarn ran me under $8 new at Walmart online shipped to a local store for free!!

Just wait. If Pikmin 3 is successful enough, I'm sure Nintendo will rerelease the first two.

I have the Pikmin 2 rerelease, but I can't find 1 anywhere cheap enough! I really hope there's a reprint or a collection of all three in a few years.

Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn comes to mind. But I doubt that will ever happen.

I am glad I picked up Pikmin 1 for the Wii when I had the chance. Then I had to wait forever and a day to get the second one. It was new, cheaper, and just a better game.

I found myself going back to replay Pikmin 1 after beating 2, but it's like being told to use a VCR after getting used to DVDs. The mechanics almost feel sluggish in 1! Still, I am glad I have both, and I eagerly await Pikmin 3.

I will take a stab in the dark here. My guess is because Nintendo does not see that releasing Wii games as a profitable solution for the Wii U drought. People can buy Wii games generally used already cheaper then what Nintendo's MSRP is except for limited print games like Xenoblade and Trilogy.

I don't see why Nintendo doesn't rerelease some games. They have their Nintendo Selects program for the Wii, but they've only used it to rerelease about 10 games! They had the Player's Choice discounted games in the past, so I don't know why they ever decided to stop doing them. It's wishful thinking, but it really would be nice to play games that had limited runs.

Do they ever rerelease their rarer limited games? It's always only games with Mario or Link except for Pikmin seems like.

I suppose not recently, but back when they had the Player's Choice program, I remember consistently seeing those titles on store shelves. It's not like they really tell us in advance when a title will be a limited run either. It's just annoying not knowing which games will end up cheaper used and which ones will gradually go up in time.

That's a GOOD price I got on Pikmin 1 sealed new... Some auctions were north of $75 and $100. I even searched the web and online stores like a Ninja. Stopped by every store I could in PA and NJ.

Wait...are you saying that you want a RE-rerelease?
I have Pikmin and Pikmin 2 for the Gamecube and the Wii. If they re-rereleased the game on the Wii U then I would have three copies of each game. Don't get me wrong, I love Pikmin, but I wouldn't get it a third time because not much, since we already have a version to play with a Gamecube controller, and a version to play with the Wii remote. The only difference really would be the use of the gamepad if it was implemented like how it is in Pikmin 3.

I'm not saying I necessarily want Nintendo to rerelease them a third time, just reprint the existing rerelease. But they could do a 15th Anniversary collection or something that included all 3 in the future. They've rereleased some of their other games many more times.

Give them a few years.

They're a bit slow when it comes to thinking of how to milk franchises that aren't Mario.
