@Waveboy I get your arguments, Im not too excited about PS4 anyways (just more than about xbox one) but since I was on Xbox360 this last gen I missed out on those "movielike adventure experiences" I really like to play. It's like the modern version of the old 2D-adventures. You're right what you're saying about the Wii U's unique features, unfortunately there's nothing that screams "the gamepad rocks" yet and I doubt there ever will be, which I'm fine with, I want my Zelda, Mario Kart and Smash Bros and that would justify my buy already!

To be honest the most games I enjoy at the moment are on the 3DS, which I am perfectly fine with (since I have one). Was just thinking about picking the best of PS3, play it, get rid of it.

it's pretty obvious that Nintendo is ditching the basic bundle, and the Deluxe will be selling for $300. That's 100 dollars difference between every console.

How many games we expect / year for Wii u (including all 3rd,2nd,1st party developers)?
5? 10?

Well we need much-much more.

True that, but if I am lucky (with my tastes) I will find that many games (more like 5) over ALL platforms over ONE year time period. Which is fine, im too busy anyways!

Not looking good for the Wii U, PS4 is just a better piece of hardware in every way imaginable.

Nintendo could bundle an external drive with all systems. I feel Nintendo would do quite well against the others with their games, some exclusive third-party titles, and a price cut (having the Deluxe at $249 would be great with value bundles priced at around $300). Nintendo also has to come out and tell people what the Wii U is exactly because there is still a lot of confusion.

@UpdateNightmare
I've been thinking... what if they Wii U has a SHORTER lifecycle than the others, let's say in 3 years from now there comes the next Nintendo console, topping all others in specs and being compatible with the Wii U games, just rendering them in higher (or same) resolution. You wouldn't have lost your game library but would have a better machine that would cut into the lifecycle of the competitors and come out on top. Delusional?

However one feels about these consoles, excited or not, the only console that is essential remains the Wii U. It's just like with the Wii.

You could play games on so many different platforms today - and some people want to try a game the 360 has, or the port that Sony has, or the one on the PC, or just game on their tablet google or iOS device or whatever, but if you're a true gamer, you're not going to miss out on pure Mario or Zelda fun. It's like the essential gamer companion to whatever other experience you like, if you feel you need more than Nintendo offers.

This is why Nintendo has that market cornered. They don't care about third party because they know "hardcore" will buy it for Nintendo exclusives regardless, and they know that casuals don't care about the games the PS and Xbox have to offer anyway - it's a battle against phones and tablets for the most part.

The WiiU looks great compared to XBOne and cheap compared to both XBOne and Ps4. I think Nitnendo have been thrown in to a good position right now just due to the competition. It's nice to see that it's still going to be relevant, I have no doubt the WiiU will be a great system right now throughout this generation.

I agree with that!

@dumedum
I think it's tricky to define what a "true gamer" is. For example if someone is having a basement full of consoles and gets every game that's released on any system is he the "UBER-gamer"? For me he would be... I don't know any nice word, hmm, lets put it this way: "a collector at best, afraid of life at worst" or whatever. Definitions suck. As long as youre having fun with whatever device you chose to play whatever genres on its allright.

And I think Nintendo HAS to care for third party support, while their first party games are without a doubt GEMS everyone should play at least once in their life, they will NOT if the entire system doesn't have enough appeal to justify a buy, thats the whole dilemma. Thats also the dilemma for all others but it doesn't have that much urgency because there ARE plenty enough games (to cater to different tastes of different people) on the other systems. I respect Nintendo for their stance, but from a business standpoint they're doing very poorly and at the end of the day, it's all just business. So I REALLY hope for a strong nintendo direct!

Graphically I view both MS and Sony streams aswell as Ubi and EA's on my 42' TV and have to say Ps4 had better Lighting and Particle effects that madevthe visuals look better but all 3 systems were about on par when it comes to the games actually being PLAYED. AC Blackflag WiiU gameplay vids and Ps4 Version being played look excactly the same. tbh.
Xbone is bombing big time, BIG suprise to me was NO DRM restrictions, and the £350 price tag for Ps4.
MS have helped Nintendo massively, 3rd party support will transition to WiiU as publishers see the WiiU outselling the Xbone which in turn wil as more games come more WiiU units will sell.
Sony will Win this next gen, and really have put pressure on Nintendo. WiiU Needs a pre Xmas Price Cut and Nintendo need to take a leaf from Sony and capitalize on Xbones Pricing and Drm restrictions and unviel big franchise games later today.
Personally, I'm giving Nintendo till Mid-2014 to turn 3rd party support around. If the do then I will be sticking to just WiiU, graphically competant to ps4, Off-tv play without going through latency effected Wifi Network or need to buy extra hardwars, Miiverse and 1st party titles that outshine Sony or MS's efforts ever is why. However come mid-2014, assuming Sony are not planning to udate the ps4 system to implement Drm restrictions, and if in the unlikley event WiiU is still suffering from 3rd Party support then I will get a ps4 but will only buy Sony's 1st party titles and 3rd party titles that DO NOT make it to WiiU, but I'll still buy the WiiU versions of 3rd Party titles if given the choice.

All I hope for is that Nintendo will bring some AAA artillery with their Nintendo Direct, and not only firstparty. Both Sony and Microsoft showed the usual awareness of both first party and third party content (even though they both were mistaken with using Titanfall and Destiny as MEGATONS. However games like Metal Gear Solid V and Kingdom Hearts 3 definetely were). I will definetely get a PS4 now due to the complete lack of DRM, I was so set on only having Wii U this generation - but now im guessing that it will be a PS4/Wii U combo.

Hopefully they wont settle with showing the games already announced. I am the administrator of a official Wii U thread on another forum and it felt so lame posting updates there about Just Dance 2014 and an almost confirmiration of Mutant Mudds 2 while the, well.. rest of E3 is going on for Xbox One and Playstation 4. Even though Sony pretty much killed Microsoft with their speach this morning haha.

Shame due to Nintendos ethics, they wont be as Brutal in capitalizing on Xbones mishandling by microsoft, as Sony.
Not sure how true it is but heard a bit like the last min decision to have 8gb of ram in feb, Ps4 was set to have DRM resteiction untill the backlash Microsoft recieved about Xbone drm restrictions, and Decided to pull out of it...
It leaves the question If true, Will 3rd party publishers be happy with Sony's decision and if that is the case it means the system is capable of restricting drm and will Sony implement it via a update in year or so?

Xbone looks good but those policies and price are a major deal breaker. Going PS4 as my main console with a Wii U as my next one.

I've been a little worried for my WiiU after learning that there are so few new releases planned from 3rd party developers. I've read that Nintendo doesn't have good relationships in that area, but is it really money that is dictating things? Surely, companies can get over working relationship difficulties if they are going to make cash. So why is there such a seeming lack of support? Is it more difficult to produce titles for WiiU? Is there a real lack of power problem? Personally, I prefer innovative gamplay to amazing graphics. The concepts of some of the games previewed have been impressive, but again they are basically shooters and racers, great backstory, but thesameoldthing really. I like the route Nintendo takes, trying new things to give us new experiences. I am hoping that once the excitement of newly released consoles is over, that people will still want those new experiences. WiiU wins for me even though I would like to see some of the Xbox1/PS4 games released on it.

1. Lack of power is not a problem, Wii U is 25% more powerful than e.g. XBOX 360 when fully utilized ( I really believe in this )
2. 3rd party does not want to develop for Wii U because:

a) Wii U is the last home console on the market with unique hardware.
b) Big companies like EA have "secret" agreement with M$ and Sony about hardware specs (It's not secret that PS and X1 are PC machines)
Those big companies like that because its much easier to develop for PC than some unique console hardware.
c) Developing a good game on Wii u requre a lot of time and money because Wii U hardware is still unknown to many developers therefore it's expensive to develop for.
d) Still small user-base 4 mil (Wii U).
e) Nintendo DRM policy

Agreed. Lack of support for the GameCube proved that "power" has nothing to do with it.
If Wii U had 3 times the power of the next xbox and ps, it will set get less support from third parties.
Third parties are just too intimidated by Nintendo's first party titles. They need to be the big dogs.

I'm underwhelmed with both shows personally, so Nintendo have a window to impress.

MSs was crap. 360-esque shooting/buildings falling down/stuff with some token things that will never get airplay.

Sonys, while much better, was similar when you remove all the 'wins' that should NOT be there in the first place. Their track record says they will bring creative, artistic and innovative product, but it's not on show today.

Combined, I don't see a reason to upgrade. Seriously. As a PS3 owner this gen (outside of Nintendo of course), I'd be far smarter to buy that new 360 model and pick up 360 exclusive for dirt cheap than spend a serious bit of cash on the the X1.

Not good enough to get me excited.

Like I said, Nintendo have an opportunity, but it's all set in stone now.

They needed to set this up months ago, not now. Let's hope they did.

Sony scored a major win with its presentation, anyone who thinks otherwise is a fanboy, of course there is still chance for the tide to turn again but at the moment PS4 is winning..... my predictions for the end of this console war

1. 3DS
2. PS4
3. PS Vita
4. Wii U
5 Xbox One

I have no clue why people are acting like Sony is a savor when this DRM issue should not have been an issue in the first place. Then they add a paywall to online. The only good thing is the price, damn, how did they get it down so low?

The games were worst than MS with few exclusives and all I saw were FPS. Sad but oh well.

I think Nintendo is going to drop the ball. Nintendo has no will to be number one atleast with the Wii U. It is sad but there is so much they could do with the Wii U but we get nothing really. Oh well. I hoping for the best but expecting the worst.

People are acting the way they are because they assumed Sony would be following. Then they didn't and they had a show without any major negative points. Ontop of that the PS4 isn't region locked and it comes in at a much better price. This E3 was always going to be about PS4 vs XBone, Nintendo are doing their own thing. Sony won it.

....... well PC gaming won because online services for PC games are still free. Nintendo also won by default in their own niche.

Pretty much how it is in my mind. With the expection of Infamous I think Microsoft had the better line up and show. The only reason im getting a PS4 first is because its cheaper and has no DRM. If my Microsoft backpedaled on both of those today I'd be back on their team.

@Skywake

Can it be considered a win when your the only man playing.
