I really want to get into the deep details of what you all really love about the Wii U and what you really don't like, even if its something really stupid that you feel isn't worth mentioning.

I feel like this will really help immerse me into all of your mindsets for a moment so I can learn more about the Wii U. lets talk!

Why not buy the Wii U and experience everything first hand?

I'm already planning on getting it because it looks great. why would someone want to get something and throw a whole bunch of money out the window without knowing what they are getting first?

Pros:

  • Quiet, cool, energy-efficient.
  • External HDD support.
  • Fully backwards compatible with entire Wii software catalog and peripherals.
  • Most of the best games of the generation so far are exclusive to the platform.
  • The Gamepad is brilliant.

Cons:

  • It is at the mercy of Nintendo of America in my region, who are terrible at publishing and marketing.
  • Antiquated and anti-consumerist policies regarding region-locking, account systems, and online infrastructure.
  • It's designed to punish and alienate 3rd party developers by having unique architecture with a steep learning curve.
  • It's designed to punish and alienate themselves with stubborn pricing and limited stock issues across the board.
  • The Gamepad is expensive.

The thing that annoys me most is the lack of narrative single player games like Paper Mario, Zelda, or Metroid. Other than that I've never been annoyed by Nintendo systems' accounts and online. Granted they're a bit simple and I'm not a big online gamer, but they're always functional (except on Christmas, I suppose).

I would wait for whatever game you find to be your killer app; be that Splatoon, Zelda, or something already out like Pikmin, Bayonetta, etc.

Don't hate me because I'm bnahabulous.

Like: The Games, Off-TV play
Dislike: The small VC library (still no N64 games), the lack of cross-buy

Some playlists: Top All Time Songs, Top Last Year
"Don't stir the pot" is a nice way of saying "they're too dumb to reason with"

huh. thanks for the information. its not too different than I thought you all might say but its interesting. will hang around for more postings.

LIKE: The games are great
Almost the whole library is exclusives to the system itself
For the lack of Wii U Titles, there is a ton of Wii games available
Does not use as much electricity
Downloads will continue even when the system is fully off (unless unplugged)
DISLIKE: Lack of almost any 3rd party games, which gives the system a very small library
No N64, Gamecube, Sega or Turbografx 16 games on the virtual library (but can get on Wii Shop)
Controller Pad battery doesn't last too long
Switching over to the Wii menu is kind of a mess
Most of the games can be beaten within a few hours, but some have a hefty replay value
Most of the indie download games are cheap and cheesy

Excellent point, pay no heed to the fanboys cry.
"Buy something to check if its worth buying!" Yeah, not everyone's got that much money to throw away.

Cons:

  • No cross-buy between Wii U and 3DS (except for select 3rd party titles such as "Citizens of Earth" and "Pusho" discounts)
  • Virtual Console games are inconsistent and don't update as much (but the essentials are there such as Super Mario, Legend of Zelda, and Metroid)
  • Repairs could cost over $100 without a warranty (but it rarely ever breaks; I use my Wii U hours every day for the past two years and have yet for it to break)
  • Although the Wii U is arguably (in my respect) the best platform to watch Youtube on, you can't do anything in the comment section nor check your G+ notifications since it logs you out everytime
  • Nintendo is not known for many Simulation and AAA Major 3rd party releases (but offers more exclusive Indie games than PS4 [most PS4 indies come directly from PC] or XBox One)

Pros:

  • Best device to watch Youtube
  • Best exclusive games
  • Great variety in types of games (rather than having a million of the same racing games or fighting games on other platforms)
  • Variety in game style (e.g, you could play using a 3DS, Gamecube controller, Wiimote, Gamepad, Classic Controller, or Pro Controller for Smash Bros)
  • Games have great replay value and become a classic instantaneously (I have played PS1 and PS2 games, but they just felt like weak PC and PS4 games. However, I still feel what made Metroid Prime, Pikmin, and Super Mario Sunshine so unique.)
  • You could download and play: NES, SNES, N64, GBA, Wii, Wii U, Sega Master System, Sega Genesis, Turbografx-16, Neo Geo, Commodore 64 (although C64 games were taken off the Wiishop due to licensing), Arcade, and soon-to-be DS games all on your Wii U.
  • Did I mention that online is free and open to everyone?

*online being free and open I LOVE Nintendo for this.
*how do I get a warranty and is it worth it? what does it cover? its not like one of those not-a-warranty-warranty's that don't cover anything is it?

HOW? when? I want to play all the original mario party and super smash bros and battle tanx from Nintendo64!!!!

Let me put it this way: IMHO the wii u is bought because of the games and thats it basically. Its definitely the weakest of the three console with almost no third party support. So why would anyone buy the wii u over the PS4 or Xbone if it wasnt for the games? You either like nintendo games or you can make do without them...

Anyway, here is my list of what I like and what I dont like:

LIKE:
The Games!!!
Backwards compatibility with wii games...

Dont LIKE:
Wii games need wii controllers even those that dont require motion controls
You cannot install games
too few games coming out - there is generally a lot of time downtime between releases...
there should be more third party support (third party exclusives would be welcome!)
no ethernet port

Wow, based on that there are actually more things that I dislike than I like - I guess I shouldnt have bougth it

The Wii VC is accessible on the Wii U. You won't be able to use the Gamepad though. You'll need a CC/CCP.

weakest of the consoles yet still stronger than the xbox360 was. that and look at what devs did with Nintendo64! that was awesome! now they have a much more powerful console and the games are still great it doesn't matter if the competition has super computers, they aren't doing anything fun with them HAHA.

I only owned a Wii last gen and due to living overseas for the last 12 years I've never really got to play much on my mates Xboxes,so together with my new TV the jump up to HD graphics feels enormous haha.Of course I would love the online infrastructure to be better but I can live with it.I am not too bothered about the 16 bit and missing N64 VC either as I have access to most of the best games if I wanted to play them but it does annoy me there is no Gamecube or even more so Dreamcast games on there.I have a feeling GC might come sooner or later but I think the chances of DC are pretty slim. Why Nintendo haven't encouraged or even paid Sega to bring their classics over I'll never know.It would certainly have helped during the barren spells. With all the 1st party titles we already have and the ones upcoming, combine that with the very best Gamecube,Dreamcast and classic Sega arcade titles the Wii U really would be the ultimate gaming machine for me.

Definitely true! in the end it all comes down to what I said: THE GAMES!!!

still, there will be definitely great games on either console - for those who cant live without gta, cod and stuff the Wii U is definitely the best second console...
