Post 18 in that thread.

I'm glad you finally agree with me now. Now maybe you'll look back at that conversation and reflect a bit.

LOL. Look at my previous posts. I made a slip on my finger cuz you kept using the 2 words. I was talking to another gentleman about casual gaming & you're talking about mainsteam. My posts clearly reflects the difference between casual & mainstream. Read it in it's entire context before you put your foot in my mouth.

LOL, you're amazing. Myself and others took your quote that COD "is not for mainstream gamers" as if you really meant it, yet we're supposed to realize it was a typo? I don't buy it, but let's say that's what went down---why not just say that the other night rather than defending your point for another page in that thread. Again, reflection. It works wonders. You could have seen your mistake then and avoided the whole thing.

@Cheaptrick Honestly, you must be very disconnected from 17 year olds if you have that impression of us. According to your profile, you're 42 and I'm 17 - I'm pretty sure I know myself and my peers better than you do. My friends aren't "brodude" kind of people, two of them are big Nintendo fans, we all play League of Legends together (which is a fantasy game, in case you didn't know), we have the same taste in movies (Quentin Tarantino is our favourite director), we like to read books, and we all love zombie culture (we occasionally have Walking Dead parties during mid-season and season finales of the Walking Dead, which as I mentioned earlier, we are all big fans of). I went to FanExpo (the Toronto equivalent of ComiCon) with a few of them, and we had a blast looking at comics and playing games together. We all also enjoy Star Wars and Lord of the Rings. Literally none of us watch UFC or football, we mostly prefer hockey. In the summer, a couple of us got together and had an all night Zeldathon - we tried to play through Ocarina of Time. Only one of us completed it, but that's irrelevant - we all had a blast together. We also like watching Arrested Development (we watched a couple episodes after our eyes were stinging due to playing for such a long period of time in order to take a break from our 3DS screens). If you think all older teens only play CoD, sports games, and racing games, you're horribly mistaken. At my school, at least, it's a small minority. Being nerdy is the new cool - I've had in depth conversations about Zelda and Mario with people that are extremely popular. Heck, there are a lot of popular GIRLS in my school that like Nintendo. Also, I've talked to my friends a great deal about Injustice, describing the story and the characters, and they seemed extremely enthused to try it. We all enjoy fighting games, and we like comic books, so I suppose that Injustice would be a natural choice.

I meant no offense in my earlier post - I was just frustrated that you'd refer to a quite diverse collection as "kiddie games". Quite frankly, I understand that you are merely trying to help, but I didn't make this topic so people could tell me what games to buy whilst bashing Nintendo, I made it so I could learn more about the multiplayer modes in games that I have from people that experienced them - how long will each game hold us, which multiplayer mode of the games I had is the best, et cetera.

@Cheaptrick I'm going to get the BluRay soon enough. I didn't get a chance to see it in theaters, but I heard it was excellent.

Honestly just show them how the Wii U controls the entirety of your living room and use the Wii U browser, watch a youtube video on it straight up(HTML5 for the win, though I think you may have to fiddle with the link somewhat)( of course a game trailer of a Wii U game or AlphaOmegaSin's videos)
Then play some games, show off Miiverse ectera.

As for multiplayer there's alot you can choose from, and you have some Wii games too right? Show off that as well.

Oh can I have your FC?

Well no, they are going to keep like childrens/teenagers for a couple of more years,

Anyway, if you like adult content try the multiplayer of Zombie U.

The Injustice is another good option.

Also Need for speed can work a little.

I had my friends (seven of them afterschool) come over to my house when I first got a Wii U, and none of them own any Nintendo consoles. They all play on Xbox, PS3, and PC (which I do too, but I've always liked Nintendo the most!). The only games I had were Nintendo Land and ZombiU (because I got the bundle), but I already had four Wii remote pluses and four nunchucks because I knew I would be playing with my friends a lot

So first we made Miis for everyone....we got like two hours of fun just from that alone! Lots of laughs from using the camera to generate a Mii for the person.
After that we played Nintendo Land and played the 1v4 multiplayer games. We spent hours playing those, mainly on Animal Crossing because we felt that it was a pretty fair game either way. With Mario Chase, we found that Mario usually loses, but not always, and with Luigi's Ghost Mansion, the ghost usually won. With Animal Crossing it was about 50/50 for the gatekeepers and the animals. After about like 3 hours of that, we played the attraction tour and that's where things started getting intense! Sometimes my friends would bet for other people, which lead to lots of yelling and violence and all that fun stuff but it all ended in laughs

ANYWAY, the point is that even though my friends are not Nintendo fans, they had LOTS of fun with the Wii U just from Nintendo Land alone (I still have yet to get more games like NSMBU), so I think that's always a good choice. They were all 16/17, boys and girls by the way.

We had a lot of fun yesterday. First we played Zombi U, and my friends really liked the strategy aspect of spawning zombies on the Gamepad (one in particular loved it because he has always enjoyed strategy games). Then we played Injustice, which was pretty great as well. We started off with random match-ups, and after everyone was familiar with the game, we had a tournament. My friends banned Aquaman after one of them chose him in a random match-up and spammed the spear move that comes from below, leaving the opponent unable to do anything. During the tournament, I played as Deathstroke. Needless to say, my friends were none too happy with me once I started spamming guns. They made me promise to stop using guns, but I still usually won with a bar and a half left. I won the tournament, but it was kind of unfair since I had much more experience than the rest of them. After dinner, we played Nintendo Land. Unfortunately, the Miis on my MiiMaker that we made for my friends didn't show up (can anybody explain this?) so only my Mii and my brother's Mii were usable. My friends decided to be trolls and constantly click all over the screen, attempting to pick my Mii. This frustrated me a little, but we still had a lot of fun doing the competitive games (like Mario chase and Animal Crossing). Finally, we played New Super Mario Bros. U, and actually managed to do pretty well. I consider myself quite good at Mario games, but my friends were not as good. One of them constantly went into the wrong door of a ghost house that looped just so we couldn't beat the level within the time limit. Still, we had a lot of laughs, and managed to get to the final world (I stopped playing once I got Batman and Zombi U, so I was only at World 7 before).

The point is, contrary to the belief of some (ahem @Cheaptrick) my friends enjoyed the Wii U a lot, and some told me that they'd now like to buy one.

Sounds awesome. I have been trying to get friends over to show off the Wii U too. To answer your Mii question, I believe you have to mark the Miis you want to use in game as favorites

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Kiddie games? Darksiders, Zombiu, and Injustice are kiddie games? Please enlighten me as to what you consider adult/mature titles.

All videogames by definition are kiddie. I can't think of anything more childish than playing imaginary people holding guns in outer space, indiana jones look alikes going on adventures, or playing cops & thieves on the street or in the wild west. It's all very childish. The only thing worse is pretending that it's not, which is what some people who play not on Nintendo like to say for some odd reason. But make believe and controlling character is the most childish thing ever and yet fun and engaging. That's all there's to it.

I unfortunately did not have the time, as I worked in the morning and my friends came over about ten minutes after I got back. I will still try them out when I get the chance, though.

Only your favorite Miis show up in Nintendo Land as selectable characters (I know, it' stupid)

Wow, way to not understand what people in their late teens want to play.

When I was around that age I remember spending hours with friends playing HALO on a LAN with two CRTs and two XBoxes. Which was just as much of a hit as Command and Conquer Generals and/or Red Alert. Which was just about as big of a hit as Age of the Empires. Which was as big of a hit as Mario Kart and Smash Bros..... which eventually lost out to Pool, Air Hockey and listening to Pearl Jam with unnecessary amounts of volume... all of which should give you a good guess as to how old I am

In terms of kid friendly games lets not forget how much of a crowd pleaser even Wii Sports was in its day. Even amongst the cynical and those too "mature" for such nonsense. From my experience Nintendo Land is even MORE of a crowd pleaser for the people already into games. That should always be where to start when introducing the Wii U.

I don't think kiddie is a useful term for gaming as a whole. Or childish. Or whatever. Basically what you're saying is that 'pretend' is all kiddie. Hence any books are kiddie. And movies are kiddie. Therefore the only thing 'adult' would be working 8 hours a day and then drinking a scotch afterwards.

Just because gaming is a pleasure activity does mean it is in necessarily kiddie. That word just does not fit.

Do any of your friends have 3DS systems? Just get Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for Wii U, and convince them to get the game for 3DS.
