Topic: Playing Wii U with friends, not sure what games to play

Before I begin, this is my first thread on NL! Irrelevant, I know, but I suppose I just wanted to say something regardless...

Anyways, this Sunday a bunch of my good friends are coming over to play Wii U. My parents rarely let me have people over, so I usually hang out with my friends at their places. We're mostly going to be playing Wii U, as none of them have had a real chance to get acquainted with the system. We're all 17, so I wasn't exactly sure how to spend 5 hours with what few multi-player games I have. I was hoping to get the opinion of some fellow Nintendo fans to help me figure out what exactly we should play.

Background information: Only two of the four friends coming over are big Nintendo fans (not including myself, obviously), the other two prefer Playstation, although they will enjoy Nintendo games occasionally. As I said before, we're all 17, so I can't very well spend five hours playing Nintendo Land without somebody getting bored (not me, rather one of my friends). In terms of controllers, I have four Wiimotes and my four Nunchucks, plus a Wii U Pro Controller and obviously the Gamepad.

Games that I own:
Nintendo Land
New Super Mario Bros. U
Scribblenauts Unlimited
Zombi U
Darksiders 2
Injustice: Gods Among Us

I was thinking that we'd start off with a bit of Nintendo Land to show off the Gamepad capabilities. I was wondering though, which games specifically to play. I mean, Metroid Blast seems like a safe bet, and I know I won't be playing any single player games, but I'm not sure exactly what else to play. I mean, we could always play some Mario Chase or the Animal Crossing game, but I'm not sure how long that will hold our attention.
Now, this might seem like a strange choice for five friends, but I was thinking about playing Zombi U. I told my friends about it, and they all seem extremely interested (we're all big fans of the Walking Dead and zombies in general). One in particular loves the idea of your character turning into a zombie when you die. Now, I'm really not sure what exactly to do with Zombi U. There is the two player zombie king mode, which is kind of fun, but only two people can play at a time. I could use my U Play points to unlock 2 Player main game, but I'm not sure what that entails. If somebody could explain to me what that does, I'm sure I could make a better decision. I don't want anybody playing on my file - I'm not yet done the game, and my current survivor score is astronomical, so I don't want my survivor dying from the careless mistakes of my pals - but I have a the survival mode slot open so could take turns on that.
Also, we're definitely going to play Injustice, but from what I can tell, only two people can play at a time. Should I engineer a tournament? The problem with that is that I would probably win since I have much more experience than my friends, so it would probably look like I just invited them to school them in an Injustice tournament. Is there any way to play Injustice with four people at once?
Also, I was thinking about New Super Mario Bros. U, but I don't know if they will really want to play that very much. What do you guys think? Will NSMBU amuse them for a while too? I mean, five hours is a pretty long time.

Thanks for the help.

NintendoLand and NSMBU are good choices. I would also suggest downloading the Free to Play Tank! Tank! Tank!, if you pay for a 4 player game mode then they could all play and it would be pretty cheap. ZombiU seems kind of hard to show off to so many people as I hear the multiplayer isn't that much fun but they could be wrong.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I would think you would be able to show your friends everything interesting about the Wii-U in 30 minutes. Then you can spend the next four and a half hours reading them articles about the PS4 and 720 online.

@DefHalan I had a lot of fun playing ZombiU in multiplayer, You can feel the tension playing as the surviver when you hear that zombie king spawning zombies right next to you. It's for 2 players only though. Tank! Tank! Tank! is quite fun as well, and I had a lot of fun playing Chasing Aurora in multiplayer as well, thogh I seem to be the only one. I bought it for €7 and it's well worth the money!
When it comes to Nintendoland, Playing that train thing is also a lot of fun! When your not playing you can bet which player you think will win, It'll keep your attention with the game when your not playing. Have Fun!

Every time I have friends over to play games, we mostly stick to nintendo land. It is just so much fun! Mario Chase, AC:Sweet Day and Luigi's Mansion entertained us for a loooong time. Even the ninja game is one of our favorites, breaking each others highscores one after the other. None of my friends is a nintendo fan, my friends play games like battlefield or league of legends. I have also played zombiU with a friend, but it wasn't fun at all. Mario Bros is always fun, unless people are not willing to play cooperatively. I am pretty sure that nintendo land will hold their attention for at least 5 hours. PS: Do not forget snacks

Games? Wii U has them?

But in all seriousness show them ZombiU first and then maybe continue on with Injustice or NSMBU then head on from there.

If you think they would like a good Mario Kart type game, may I suggest Sonic Racing Transformed....though I see you would have to rent or buy it before that would be possible though.

Thanks for the advice, everybody. I also have Super Mario World. for virtual console, so it might be fun to play that too just for nostalgic purposes.

I decided just to ignore his anti-Wii U statement it since it wasn't at all relevant to the topic at hand, but I completely agree with you.

Look! Your friends are 17 y.o. They're basically adults. A year from now they gonna be able to do whatever then want without any adult supervision. They can even leave home if they want to. You need not to worry what game they're going to play. By now they know already what they gonna play. You have plenty of games for them to play. You can also play Netflix for them to watch movies.

Black ops 2 for sure. I impressed two Xbox fans with that one and both said they wanted to get a wiiu as well. Also zombieu next to walking dead by telltale it is the best zombie game I've played in forever.

Yup, Black Ops 2 is a good choice. Assassin's Creed 3 is good too but only in Singleplayer. Need for Speed: Most Wanted U is very fun & you can easily play the game without lots of practice.

Just wondering - why are you on a site called Nintendo Life? Because it's not only clear that you dislike Nintendo, it's also clear that you are annoying and quite possibly a troll. Do us all a favour and troll some other site instead, kay?

And to the people who suggested CoD, I'd rather not spend 60$ on a game that I likely wouldn't even play just to impress some friends. Also, while I recognize that we're all basically adults, I was just trying to figure out exactly how to organize what games to play in which order so everything runs relatively smoothly.
