It's most likely that, of third party characters, if you see any, it will be the Namco Bandai ones.
That said, I'd like to see Chocobo. He'd be awesome.
@DudeSean, while I would enjoy every minute of it if he was, I just don't see it happening. If he is I better see Henry as an assist! And if Travis is a character then I think they would have to downsize his personality a lot. Like I said, I just don't see it happening.

If Travis was in SSB I don't think they'd have to tone down personality that much, just don't have him swar, or recharge his katana, I mean they took out a lot of what snake could do, like knifing and his Pervyness, all they have to do is make him like Otacon was in SSBB and since America was the only country that used red for the blood in NMH, they could just make it look like they did in Japan and Europe and make the blood look like ash instead. He could taunt by saying moe, or any of the other appropriate words he says. Oh and I say since suda worked on SSBB I say Travis is even more likely

theres no need for a source for when you know.
How would you know unless they specifically said anything about it? Until they do, I wouldn't put it outside the realm of possibility.
If there would be one more third party character that wasn't from Namco, I'd suggest it'd be Sora. Of course such a thing will probably never happen, which is too bad because he would fit in just fine.
@komicturtle I don't know about Ike (I really hope he does return though), but I'm pretty sure Marth will at least. After all, he was in Sakurai's drawing that we saw a while ago, and that has to account for something.

Surprisingly, the character I would most like to see in the Smash 4 is Young Link (hear me out on this one). On one hand, he is like regular Link, just faster, smaller and his attacks do less damage. But then he could use the Deku, Goron and Zora masks from Majora's Mask to transform and get three very unique move sets.
Also, I want Shulk, Ghirahim, Little Mac, Travis Touchdown, Magnus, Lloyd Ivring, Ridley (just give him a Charizard-like moveset and take Pokemon Trainer out), and Pacman (even though he is basically confirmed in the game)
Also, take out Jigglypuff. No one cares about her.
