Topic: Pikmin 3 as my first Pikmin game?

I've never played Pikmin & been looking at a new Wii U game to get & Pikmin 3 seems to stand out & have lots of hours worth of gameplay. But my question is it okay easy to get into if I've never played the first two games?

Definitly, it's far easier than the other two, and somewhat more fun. It has the superb Flying Pikmin in it which is always fun, and is just packed with all sorts of color, The music is great, and so are the bosses. Its a great buy.

You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you?

Get it. You don't really need to have played 1 or 2 to enjoy this game. They improved the graphics, multiplayer, controls, etc. over past games.

I personally can't even go back to past games of a series once an updated/enhanced sequel comes out. If you really want to play Pikmin 1 & 2, you should get those first, otherwise you might not be able to go back to the clunkier controls and such.

I played the first and second one years ago for a few minutes and didn't like it or cared about it that much - I'm not a fan of games like that. I've got this game pretty much because a) there was barely anything for WiiU, so I though to myself "might as well try that again" and b) TW101 sale (I wasn't interested in that game too... probably wouldn't be if not for the sale)

And I will tell you I really, really like this game - there is something about it. Maybe the great, colorful graphics, or sound, or maybe just an atmosphere of discovery, excimnent about finding food or your crew back together on an unknown planet. There are small references to the previous games, but you don't need to play them to understand what is going on here.

If you will like it then I guess you can get 1&2 for Wii if you want something harder, because from what I remember, it is dirt cheap

Please do. Just keep in mind that most players find the Wiimote+nunchuck the definitive way to play it. The game also eases you with the first days being like a tutorial, but not feeling as one.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

I got interested in Pikmin just because of the Pikmin attraction on Nintendo Land. Thing is this is one of those games that will stay full price for a while, maybe drop a few bucks for a short time, then skyrocket as you try to find a good copy online. In short, go for it.

I love jokes that imply that ponies use the internet.

I played Pikmin 3 as my first Pikmin and it was no problem. It's fantastic game! After playing the main game, the Bingo Battle is still huge fun on local multiplayer.

It is. One suggestion I'd give, just put the gamepad on a table or something nearby and play with Wiimote + Nun-chuck. That is just the best way to play, and you get a nice asymmetrical bonus you didn't think you would have.

Great game! I just bought a bit of extra content for this game and I enjoy it both by myself and with someone else.

I didn't really like Pikmin 1 or 2 but I really enjoyed Pikmin 3.

It was my first pikmin game and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Not the best at it but that doesn't take away how good it was. extra content (missions) are a blast.

You'll definitely be fine with Pikmin 3 if you haven't played the other two. However, I liked Pikmin 2 slightly more that Pikmin 3, so if you end up liking it, I would highly recommend getting Pikmin 2, especially if you want something a bit harder (Pikmin 1 was hard too, just not as fun IMO). Although I prefer the Wii remote/nunchuck combo on the Wii U version (mostly because of Wii motion plus), I would have to say that the Gamecube version of Pikmin 2 is a little bit easier to play. But both the Wii/GC versions are good.

Agreed, the Remote pointer is much better for putting Pikmin where you want them than two sticks and the Gamepad still works as a map/encyclopaedia and method for managing your parties.
