Welcome @ChuJelly!
But I'm beginning to think this might even be... (cue dramatic music)...

A Prequel!

@Happy_Mask Hmm, I don't think so. Think about it, how would Olimar and co. not know about the Pikmin if others from Hocotate have already been there? But still, explain why you think so. I love speculating!

Avian fact of the week: The Moa, an extinct relative of ostrichs and emus that inhabited New Zealand, was the tallest bird that ever lived at 12 ft tall (3.6 m). It was also the only known bird to have no wing structure.

I'm mostly just going by the appearances of the captains.(hooray or silly implausible speculation! ) I still think my theory of Olimar being the new boss actually holds some ground though. :3

This game looks WAY better than it did at this years E3 (graphics wise)
Also I glad they added a couple new enemies and some new Pikmin to keep the game
feeling fresh. As for Olimar not being in the game until later, Im not sure maybe the 4 charcters shown at E3 are from a
rival company or somthing?

I only see GC 4.0 happening if I become a English major. Yeah, it is happening now. GC 4.0 will be released in 2020.

Maybe this takes place 8 years after Pikmin 2. Olimar might be too old to go back to the planet of pikmin, so his children go instead. Just the random fan thinking of theories. Dismiss everything I say.

Okay, am I the only one who thinks this is going to be one difficult enemy to deal with? If you haven't seen the video, it just shows up out of nowhere in a flash of bio-luminescence and sucks up Pikmin like a vacuum.

EDIT: Here's the video. Skip to 2:17. Watch how it catches you in total surprise. I really hope Ultra-Bitter Spray will still be usable...

@WingedFish one thing you have to know about Pikmin:Sometimes you just have to sacrifice some Pikmin for the well-being of the captain. Pikmin are disposable. >:3

True, but what about those of us who do no-death runs (myself included)?

I hope that bio-luminescent fish thing inspires a deep sea dungeon where you explore the bottom of the ocean. I loved Pikmin 2, but it really needed more environments that the same levels from Pikmin 1 and dull brown caves.

I had fun once and it was awful.

Happy_Mask

I still think that giant enemy crab will be a pain to deal with.

No, its not a fish. More like a moth-esch creature.

Where is his weak point for massive damage?

I think it's hidden in the history of japan.

Oh. Still, it would be cool.

Here are a couple videos analyzing the footage from the December 5th Nintendo Direct. They both cover different aspects and show several things that you wouldn't normally notice. Enjoy and speculate!

Okay, this has been on my mind for a while. I wonder if you'll be able to have more then 100 Pikmin in the field this time around, because otherwise if you have a balanced squad you can only have about 10 of each species (with 40 left over).
