Its a shame your experience is only with the worse of the series.

Is it worth it? I was thinking of AC3 in the sale later in the week, but I've seen a few people saying it's a bit of a dull slog. Still haven't got Windwaker yet, so might just go for that as I know that is great. Will be getting AC4 next year though - can't beat a decent pirate adventure.

But then I haven't got a Playstation or Xbox, so it's unsurprising. I also played Arkham City and Darksiders 2 (both sort of similar franchise ports from those systems), and I though they were great. I just felt as a sandbox game it didn't feel very free roaming at all. It would take a lot of convincing to believe I would like AC4, or Watchdogs for that matter.

Isn't it obvious that Falco Lombardi is actually a parrot?

Im currently waiting for AC4 to make its way to my doorstep. However if your going to start late, AC4 is the close you are going to get as a new jumping on point in terms of story.

However for gameplay AC2 and Brotherhood are the pinnacle of the series, both are available on Steam and are absurdly cheap during the big steam sales. But dont play AC3 if you havnt played the others , its the end of a major plot point and you most likely wont stick it out if you have no draw from the story. Its by no means a bad game, but its not a good game nor shows why people enjoy Assassins Creed in the first place.

Gotta say I completely agree with this. I feel sorry for anyone who only played AC3 (or AC:R for that matter) and thus was turned off by the series as a whole. It wasn't a terrible game and I don't regret playing it, but it pales in comparison to the story of AC2 and the gameplay of Brotherhood.

That being said, I'm getting a little burnt out on the series, so right now I'm trying to decide how quickly I want to buy AC4. I'm sure I'll play it eventually, but I may wait til it gets a price drop. Let us know what you think of it.

Probably better off just waiting for a price drop. With the game being annualized the price will come down fairly quickly. May even be able to get it on a good deal during the holiday season somewhere.

Agree with you on AC3. People that may be Nintendo only console owners may have been turned off the series thanks to AC3.

I'm not picking it up.
I'm more or less burnt out from Assassin's Creed from the three first ones.

Haven't finished Revelations, and haven't even tried AC3, and neither of that seems tempting at the moment in the slightest.
There's been too much AC for me.

I can't believe I'm saying this but... Battlefield 4's campaign is more intense and fun to experience than AC4's story. I can't believe I'm saying that. Lol but Battlefield's story is actually fun and is impressing me... Just my opinion...

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

Those are two very different campaigns and a really stupid comparison. Ac4 is designed for open world and over 30 hours long, they need to pace it out. Bf4 has a really crappy 4 hour campaign designed to be there just because they feel like it needs one.

This game is incredible on wii u. Easily the best console version of the game out there

I've played and beaten all Assassin's Creed titles, but AC1 and AC3 were the only ones I bought on launch day. I usually rent or get them later. As far as AC4, it looks great, and WiiU will be my console of choice for it, but I don't know if I will be getting it at launch. Maybe looking out for a Black Friday deal (may be too early but sometimes they'll do a 10% off or something less). Biggest reason is AC3 was just last year. Nonetheless, I'll get to it eventually!

When you're crew starts singing this after looting 5 ships you know you're in for a great adventure.

Easily better than AC3 for me could potentially become my favorite AC game.

I actually liked ACIII on Wii U; I got it at launch and it's my only game in the series. I've preordered the Buccaneer Edition of ACIV and am eagerly awaiting it!

I thought AC3 was great, though replaying it would be a chore due to the lengthy introduction. But this is already even better!

Im prob twice as far in as that video. Its still hard to say at this point where it falls because let me tell you this is one drawn out tutorial they have going here( just now got to boarding ships).

I will say the intro to AC3 grabbed me more then any of the other AC games(with the twist and all, not the initial part with Connor ). As such AC4's intro seems a bit drawn out with its lack of story, combat and looks are all fine (except the first city is somewhat ugly , the rest are nice though). Oh and boarding ships is fun as hell!
