Hi,

I think I know the answer to this, but I'd love to be able to use the Wii U gamepad as a Photo frame / clock. It seems like such a natural to me.

Are there any apps that do this? I've looked the through the Wii U store and I don't see anything like this. I've tried google, but all of the searches turn up nothing.

Thanks,
Kevin

Sounds like apps that make sense on mobile systems. There are plenty on 3DS.
Turning on a powerful system like the Wii U just to have the GamePad on a stand and a diashow running (with a clock) seems like a complete waste of electricity but that's just me.
PS. There is no app like this on Wii U.

I've been expecting this since the Wii U was announced and commented on it regularly. Then the system came out. It makes sense to me that it should focus as a digital picture frame while it's on it's cradle charging but I think the problem is the Gamepad is about as stupid as you can get, i.e. I don't think there is anything in it that could run a slideshow w/o the Wii U being on as it's basically only a controller w/ a screen on it. I think the Dreamcast VMU had more processing power in it than the Gamepad as you can raise Choa on it. You would think they would put enough power in it to run a clock, since it an act as a tv remote w/o the Wii U being on, but I dont think there is any memory for a photo slideshow. I'ld take 1 of those Mario 3DS clocks though.

Yeah, the GamePad would have been so much better if you could actually use it for something without having to run the Wii U. A photo frame / clock would have been brilliant.
