Topic: Part of the Problem...and Hate It

I was wondering if anybody else is in the same boat as me and feels bad about being a part of the problem with third parties (or lack thereof) on the Wii U, but just can't help it. Every time a new game comes out that I want I put it on my Amazon Wish List. Here is my list right now: Duck Tales Remastered, Sonic Lost World, Deus Ex: HR, Wonderful 101, Rayman Legends, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Mario & Luigi Dream Team, Lego City Undercover, Luigi Mansion Dark Moon, Brain Age: Concentration Training, Darksiders 2, and New Super Mario Bros. 2. Of course, I'll be adding Mario and Zelda tomorrow. If I'm not mistaken, every Wii U game on that list (except for the two tomorrow) is a third party game. However, here are the games I already own: Wind Waker HD, Pikmin 3, New Super Mario Bros. U, NintendoLand, Game & Wario, and Batman: Arkham City. I have traded in one of these games, and I bet you can guess which one it is. My plan is to spend some of the money I get for Christmas to get three games, taking advantage of a Buy 2 Get 1 Free deal that Target or Toys R Us or someone is bound to have. And despite the fact that the majority of games I want are third party, I already know the three I will get (barring actually getting any of them from someone else for Christmas) will be Link Between Worlds, Mario 3D World, and Mario & Luigi Dream Team. There are a ton of third party games I want, I simply usually want the first party ones more, and I have a limited amount of both time and money so I can't get all the games I want. I feel bad about not supporting the third parties, but I'd rather get the games that I would rather play. Does anybody else feel this way, too?

If you're playing the games you want to play, who cares what company made them? Almost all of my DS/3DS games are Nintendo games - there's nothing wrong with that. You shouldn't feel bad that not every game interests you.

Your post kinda shows that Nintendo first party games have a special thing to them. Every Nintendo first party has a fan. I'm not mad at you that most of your Wii U games are 1st party games. I don't blame you. Wind Waker HD or COD: Ghosts? Super Mario 3D World or Batman: AO? I'm not saying that the 3rd party games are bad or of less value. I'm just saying that Nintendo games have a special touch to them that most Nintendo fans just can't ignore.
The Wii U needs more of these special 1st party games to please the fans and generate more 3rd party support.

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

I'm the same way. I HAVE to have Mario, Zelda, Smash Bros, abd Mario Kart. I still buy 3rd party though. I always get Resident Evil and usually Sega games. It really depends, but in the end, it's what you want to play most.

I think some 3rd party games are more worthwhile sometimes. I would replace Mario & Luigi with basically anything else, TBH. Dues Ex, Batman, or Darksiders would get my money before I buy another M & L game. That series completely lost me after Partners in Time...

@Xyphon22 I hear what you're saying man. I feel that is one of the biggest factors why Nintendo struggles wih 3rd party, because everyone gets Nintendo devolped games and doesn't really pay attention to anything else. People who have Nintendo consoles think 1st part 1st and the 3rd party releases come second.

Who cares? Buy what you want to buy, which will tell the creators that you want more of that game type/series. It is not your responsibility to buy something just to show support. If the developers don't make money on their product, it is the wrong product or the wrong market, and that is a proble for them to solve.

It's a forum about video games, dude. Not sure who's expecting threads about the plight of impoverished third-world countries.

Oh, I have no intention of changing my buying habits just to support third parties. I think I feel less bad for the companies and more bad that I may never get to play these great games that I really want to play simply because I don't have the time. Maybe when I'm sixty and retired and my kids have all moved out I can play Lego City and Deus Ex on the VC of whatever Nintendo system is out by then.

I've been supporting 3rd parties as much as I can on the Wii U - I have Zombi U, BLOPS2, NFS Most Wanted, MH3U, Injustice, SC Blacklist, Rayman Legends, Scribblenauts Unmasked, Batman Arkham Origins, Deus Ex HRDC and Lego Marvel Superheroes. First party I have NSMBU, NintendoLand, Ninja Gaien 3, Lego City Undercover and SM3DL. So I have double the amount of 3rd party games and that's not including eShop games too.

this is the thread for you, @Xyphon22 — play what you love, and screw what anyone else has to say about it. If they keep making games you don't want to play, that's their fault, isn't it? We shouldn't be forced to buy games we're not interested in for any reason; we can't help that they don't interest us. :3

Anyway, feel free to post your thoughts to the main thread and join everyone else who's also having fun :3
