@Rosalina Yes please to a Rosalina appearance lol Great idea and I think she's a worthy character who even deserves her own game!
What about Wario? Have we all forgotten about him?
Wario has his own games, unless you meant he should be included in a Paper Mario game. Then sure, why not?
@Rosalina Yeah it should definitely be story-driven and can have her travelling around the cosmos and show how she gets her ship and meets the Lumas. I could see it being a puzzle platformer.
Yeah, that's what I meant.
Recently I've been playing Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD, Link's Awakening, and Luigi's Mansion 3. Also replaying Rayman Legends and trying to get better at Smash Ultimate
As long as it's not called "Paper Mario U" I don't care what they do with the game
But Thousand Year Door > All other Paper Mario games
HINT HINT NINTENDO
It likely won't be titled that. Let "Paper Mario U" be its codename...

Anybody else notice that Super Paper Mario's writers seem to go uncredited? I can't find them anywhere...
Anyways, I feel like it would help if they got back Hironobu Suzuki (I spelled it right the first time!!!) as chief writer. The Thousand Year Door was fun and all, but I feel like it was the writing that really elevated the game. Sticker Star's writing as far as I can tell could be lacking. The game didn't feel very congealed, and a lot of the game was more like the platformers where you're just going from one place to another with relatively little flow. I mean, yes, all the Mario RPGs are like that to a degree, it wouldn't be Mario without all these themed worlds that almost don't seem to belong together, but I just felt like there used to be more compelling reasons to go to places writing-wise, at least in TTYD and even Super Paper Mario, IIRC.
As long as it's not enough Sticker Star (and hence has new characters and interesting ideas), I'm all for anything they include in a Wii U Paper Mario title.
I can almost guarantee that Paper Mario U is getting announced at this year's E3. Here's why.
1. The Wii U has no Mario games announced for 2014 or 2015
2. Intelligent Systems has said they are working on a new Wii U game
3. Intelligent Systems is known for 4 major franchises. Paper Mario, Fire Emblem, WarioWare, and Advance Wars. Fire Emblem and WarioWare just hadgames come out last year. Advance Wars is handheld exclusive (Intelligent Systems doesn't do Battalion Wars). That leaves Paper Mario.
Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F
I don't know about anyone else but I've had it with Thousand-Year Door at this point. It's a great game, so great that it seems to have spoiled the majority of the fanbase. If we are getting a New Paper Mario soon, it'd be nice to have the original battle system back, but it needs to have it's own feel and setting. 64 and TTYD felt different despite playing similarly and all of the Paper Marios so far have had their own feel including Sticker Star (which isn't even bad), I'd like Paper Mario 5, not TTYD2.
It'd be great if Paper Mario 5 took something from the previous games. Maybe consisting of:
64's solid progress of the story (no mandatory backtracking, looking at you TTYD...)
TTYD's battle system (minus the superguard as I feel that cheapened the difficulty) and partner usefulness. The side-quests were pretty good too and there was even an optional party member. I can't recall many RPG games that do that.
Super's story-telling. It doesn't have to be AS good but something close would be step in the right direction.
Sticker Star's graphics (it put the paper in Paper Mario), battle environment (namely the angled view) and high damage numbers (starting the game with 4-10s instead of measely 1s and 2s, I really liked that).
So yeah, that's my two cents and I doubt anyone will agree with me on this.
EDIT: I'd also be OK with anything different as long as it made sense and it worked.
I'd honestly prefer something like Super Paper Mario. There really isn't a shortage of turn based RPGs from Nintendo, and Mario & Luigi shares a similar timing based battle system.
On the other hand, the 2D Action-Platformer RPG is a very rare thing to come by. At least in the AAA world.

I don't think anyone disagrees with you. They'd just prefer a Paper Mario game with new characters/ideas and a more traditional RPG battle system. Ideally with as you said, lots of its own new stuff.

Holy smokes. Take a bow son. I'm converted to the idea thanks to that logic.
By that logic, it's NOT Paper Mario because the series also had a recent game
But it's the least recent recurring franchise Intelligent Systems works on for consoles. That is unless they are planning on bringing Famicom Wars back or they are working on a new IP. We have also gotten a Paper Mario on all of Nintendo's home consoles since the series inception. And Sticker Star wasn't solely developed by Intelligent Systems either.

I don't see why they wouldn't work on Famicom Wars because they haven't done Famicom Wars in a long time.
Considering they stopped with Super Famicom Wars on the Super Famicom, and every console "Wars" title since has been Battalion Wars by Kuju Entertainment, I think it's a safe bet to assume any "Wars" game IS works on is for handheld.
