Topic: Okami announcement descending from the Celestial Planes.

The official Okami twitter is indicating that there is an announcement coming in a weeks time.

"Hello, this is Okami news. Sorry I’ve been kind of out of touch lately, but I have the feeling we’ll be able to drop a fresh announcement like WHAM! around the beginning of Golden Week, so please look forward to it. Right now we’re on track with preparations."

Well this has certainly got my tail wagging, but it is important to note that there has been no indication of the exact nature of the announcement and if it is a game what consoles it's coming to.

Let's assume that this is a new game well then what are the possibilities. Well here are the possibilities in my personal order of preference.

1. New Wii U exclusive
2. New Multi platform release including Wii U
3. Portable or 3DS exclusive
4. Wii U release of Okami HD on the eShop.
5. PS3 or PS4 Exclusive or Mulitplatform without Wii U release.

Well then let's look at some of the facts.

Okami is owned by Capcom and was the product of Clover Studios, the lead forces behind which have since formed Platinum Games.
Both of these companies have a strong relationship with Nintendo at the moment.
Nintendo is currently co-puplishing two titles with Platinum Games.
The wonderful 101 is being directed by Hideki Kamiya, the director of Okami.

Although this suggest that an Okami game was not in production at the time it at least shows that the director feels the Wii U is a good fit for the series.
It seems possible to me that Nintendo would be willing to help support and publish the next Okami game considering that both entries in the series have appeared on Nintendo consoles, Okamiden being exclusive to the DS.

What do I think is going to happen?
I feel the most likely outcome is that Okami HD will make its way to the eShop perhaps we may even get an HD remake of Okamiden.

I would however be over the 3 wolf moon if the third entrant in the series was coming to the Wii U, particularly if Kamiya is true to his statement about the possibilities.

I'm actually thinking it might not be a game. I don't really care what it is right now, so long as it keeps Okami in the limelight for any length of time.

I'm afraid you read that Tweet wrong. "Ask Capcom" was all he actually said, in replying to someone who asked him to make Okami 2 for Wii U. It basically confirmed that it was solely in Capcom's hands, and Kamiya would not be working on it.

Jeez i havent played Okami its Wii release. I've always wanted Amasteru on Play Station Battle Royal or Smash Bros. Do you think he has a chance? Anyway I don't know if I will buy it though. The Wii U really hasn't been my favorite, they haven't really done anything cool with my favorite franchises.

As much as I'd love Okami 2 for the Wii U, I'm not gonna hold my breath. A lot of game studios have been rather disappointing to me as of late, and Capcom is by no means one of the bigger offenders. Still, any Okami news is good news. Lets just wait and see instead of making assorted speculations that can snowball into internet rumors.

First of all, I believe Ammy is female. Second, I'd say she has almost no chance of being in Smash Bros, though possibly in PS Battle Royale, I definitely do not know Sony's policy there.

3rd party Direct?

Not necessarily, I think it means that in order for the project to get greenlighted Capcom has to agree and commit to it.
Although for some reason I was under the impression that Platinum Games were part of Capcom...
