I suggest people duct tape their 3DS to their bodies to prevent it from being stolen when out and about until Nintendo implements their account system later this year.

And I shall become the duct tape bandit!

Or we could do what Gaz did in an episode of 'Invader Zim' and have it implanted…

I am incredibly inclined to start being rude after so many of you say that I am and mock me in the same post.

You're right since I actually have some self-restraint.

@tat2: there's no need for it to become a pissing contest. Any criticism towerds u has been fairly gentle, considering your attitude.

Just chill and learn.

@theblackdragon Fortune has nothing to do with it, years of training does.
@k8sMun And what attitude would that be, exactly?.

Yeah system based accounts suck. Honestly nintendo do should have this stuff sorted out before the 3DS launched. I mean doesn't club nintendo track this stuff anyway.

WAT!

@kaiserbirdo: duct-tape solves everything... just watch out for random half-bird freaks >:3

in all honesty, though, losing your system after the unified accounts thing goes through would still be a crappy situation... you'd have to replace your system if you wanted your account to be usable again, after all

So we all can agree that Skyward Sword is the best Zelda game to date, right?

@tbd: true, having things stolen/broken/lost is certainly annoying in the first place! However, at least the account-based system will let you just change your password, maybe deactivate the linked system (if they go with that sort of method) and then away you go on a new system.

I think filing a police report then faxing it off and waiting for someone at Nintendo to get around to verifying it and transferring your account to your new system (which, presumably, you also need to give the details of such as serial number - let's hope you wouldn't have to physically ship it to them!) is just asking a LIIIITLE bit much in this day and age.

Nothing can be done about it right now, given that they're implementing the new system, but I really think they should have had the foresight to avoid this in the first place. You would have been able to keep your Ambassador games if Nintendo sorted out their online services properly!

Due to finances, my son has bought then had to sell something like 3 PSPs. When he gets a new one, all he has to do is redownload any games he had purchased. If ninty went to an account based system it would be the same. It is a win for the conumer without hoops to jump thru.

(Pls forgive any mistakes right now: charger cord for my notebook died and I have to use my droid).

Right, this is how it should have been done from the start. Steam is the same. There's always the risk that the system will be hacked, although you can mitigate the damage and I think the benefits far outweigh that risk.

When I read the bit about the police report I thought it was a joke at first. I mean, it really is laughable.

Oh, and don't worry - you're writing better on your phone than apparently 99% of the internet can do normally!
