So lets have it opinions of the Nintendo Direct......

Delay for Donkey Kong, a new Kirby game and Sonic in SSB.

It was a great Direct. It really proved to me that Nintendo is trying really hard to get the Wii U rolling. I smiled during the entire thing. Let's not forget that there's a Phoenix Attorney demo coming LATER today... And Pikmin 3 content!

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

They didn't do much for the Wii U in it..1 new trailer for Mario, Pikmin DLC, and info on 2 party games... Oh, and a delay for Donkey Kong.

Was very satisfied with this direct overall.

Good: That positively beautiful SM3DW trailer was the perfect kick off. My internet cut off when Sonic got announced but that was great news to come back online to. I won't be able to get the new Ace Attorney on launch so I'm very happy I'll get to play a demo to tide me over until then. I was whining in the VC forum about want of Kirby GBA games... but I'll certainly be more then pleased with a new one! And it comes out next year so I have time to get my hands on some money for it. :-3

Bad: Lots of filler I didn't really care about but at least they did what they said they would do and talked about their upcoming slate. And yeah, Tropical Freeze delay... not cool. Not cool at all.

I guess you didn't see the part where they talked about Wii Party U and convinced me that Mario&Sonic Oylmpics 2014 is really worth buying now? They also showed some 3rd party support of AC4.

Good:

  • Super Mario 3D World - Highlight of the direct. So much more excited for it now.
  • Sonic returning in Smash Bros.
  • Ace Attorney demo!
  • New Kirby game (didn't see that one coming)
  • EU release dates for both Mario and Zelda.

Bad:

  • Donkey Kong Country delayed, no new footage.
  • No mention of WiiU or 3DS system software (they didn't even acknowledge today's update!)
  • No last minute surprise...
  • Too much filler near the end. Did we really have to spend so much time talking about a PIkmin 3 patch and Ravio's similarity to Nabbit?

SM3DW looks even better than it did previously. The only thing its lacking, IMO, is online co-op. Still ridiculously hyped for the game.

Sonic looks like a great game as well. Looking forward to that one at the end of the month.

Sonic returning to Smash Bros was expected but good use of the ND to announce it. Mario, Sonic, and Mega Man beating the crap out of each other - Nintendo pushing nostalgia levels to the max(how many of us didn't wonder what it'd be like if Mario, Sonic and Mega Man fought each other back in the Genesis v SNES days?)

DK delay sucks but not too surprising since it'd been rumored for a couple of weeks. There is still plenty to play though with Mario, Sonic, Wii Fit U, Wii U Party all releasing plus all the previously released titles and 3rd party content like Watch Dogs, Arkham Origins, Black Flag, CoD, etc. Will allow them to have a strong 1st party title during Q1 of 2014. I doubt Mario Kart releases before March 31st, probably looking at a late April, mid-May release for MK8.

Pros:
-Mario 3D World jumped from bland and predictable to absolutely fantastic-looking.
-Kirby on 3DS looks like fun.
-Sonic being reintroduced to Smash Bros. was a nice touch
-Not going to lie, Wii Party U actually looks pretty entertaining

Cons:
-Nothing surprising outside of the Kirby announcement.
-I was expecting some Virtual Console reveals.
-Too much focus on boring third-party stuff the Direct audience doesn't care about (Just Dance, etc.)
-Donkey Kong delayed.

All around, I walked away with mixed emotions, but truth be told, I wanted more.

I came in realistic expectations so its about what I expected. As far as the direct itself goes.

-Super Mario 3D world looks great. It makes me wonder why they choose the safe levels to show at E3. The music is rocking as well. Game is my system seller.
-The Mario and Luigi Wiimotes straight into my veins.
-Wii Party U looks okay but really isn't my cup of tea. Nintendoland and Wii Sports are far my type of party games.
-Mario and Sonic is the game I want out of the Party stuff announced. I hope the hockey game is online play.
-Sonic is going to be my second main in Smash Bros.
-Pikmin 3 DLC makes sense. I'm glad Nintendo doesn't say there will be DLC right when a game releases. I wonder what other games will get DLC.
-Boring Dude is boring.
-Zelda Link to the Past looks good and I'm glad they didn't wait til lthe Wii U game to expertiment with the gameplay.
-Kirby is Kirby but i'm itching to what Kirby would look like in a 3D platformer.

What's with that contradiction?

Anywho, the DK delay is actually a smart move. The Wii U has a lot of software coming even without it, so Nintendo doesn't want DK Freeze to affect those other game sales. Plus it's a way to prevent the typical winter drought of games.

Overall a good Direct imo.

The Kirby game wasn't the last part of the direct in Europe. I wanted Shibata to end his segment with a fun surprise like he usually do (in February it was DKCR 3D, in April it was ALBW and in August it was PL vs. AA localization).

Pretty good direct (thanks to the 3D World trailer and Kirby 3DS announcement), but it could have been better. Like had Tropical Freeze not been delayed and instead got a new trailer featuring Enguarde or something.

And the lack of Mario Party Island Tour and Yoshi's New Island was kind of disappointing, making me worry these games have literally fell off Nintendo's radar.

Was honestly hoping to hear more on Yarn Yoshi, we got like...very little info on it. :/
Anyways forgot, what did Japan get? Anything new worth mentioning?

Mario Party and presumably Yoshi's Island has been delayed till next year. Nintendo doesn't need them with the thrid party line up of the 3DS backing up the one-two punch of a new Pokemon and Zelda.

Still not excited for 3D World, but the recent Nintendo Direct has given me a more favorable impression of the game. Tropical Freeze being delayed is a real bummer, though, as that is one of my most anticipated upcoming Wii U games, aside from Yarn Yoshi and X. Looks like my decision to hold off on getting a Wii U for another year was wise.

The DKC delay was unfortunate, but makes sense. But that brings an issue that there is practically nothing coming out for Wii U in December. Anyway, The Pikmin 3 dlc and Link between Worlds trailer were the highlights for me. I was just about to take a much needed Pikmin break then Nintendo pull my right back in. The SM3DW trailer and Kirby 3D also got me pretty excited. Nothing else really interested me. Except, Sonic joining SSB4, but i expected this at some point.
