Topic: Number one thing I fear about Hyrule Warriors

I love how Hyrule Warriors is looking based on the trailer. But if there is one thing that is bothering me, how do you learn how to play if you're doing co-op! One player has to use the gamepad, and the other player uses nunchuk+wii remote. I have played games in the past where the game would only tell you the controls of the first controller, then you were stuck figuring out the rest for the different controller.

I really want to buy Hyrule Warriors but I don't want to buy a Wii U Pro Controller. In Street Fighter, controls are labeled as LP, MP,HP and so on. But I haven't played any Dynasty Warriors game before and I'm curious if the controls are labeled as certain moves. Can anyone confirm if the controls are like SF (where you can select what button does what)?

Are you sure you can play with the nunchuk and wii mote? In anycase get a pro pad if you can afford it, I can't imagine a warriors game being comfortable to play with anything other than the gamepad or pro. Plus its actually my best controller this gen, although I love the trackpad on my DS4 the thumb sticks are not as comfortable as the pro.

If you can't afford the pro pad just wait until the Japanese release this coming week, theHyrule warriors Wikia and Gamefaqs pages will likley have an answer for your question.

I'm pretty sure the Hyrule Warriors Direct showed the co-op mode with the gamepad and nunchuck/wiimote. In another trailer, they showed it with the pro controller and gamepad. I'm guessing both are options. As for how to play? Considering both users have their own screens, I'm sure button instructions will pop up on each person's screen.

You can always check controls from the manual.

It's its, not it's.

Warriors games are just button mashing so you only ever need like 3 dif buttons to play the game well. It should be really easy to figure out. When my friends and I play Samurai Warriors after we haven't in a long time we don't even look up controls and figure it out within 5 minutes.

I will buy this game for sure but I've never been a fan of beat'em ups though the zelda fan service in the game is eanough reason to play it as I am the ultimate Zelda fan (The franchise as a whole not the character).
I guess the number one thing I fear is the probably repetitive gameplay...

The one thing I fear about it is it starting a trend where every game on a Nintendo system from 3rd parties is skinned to be like a Nintendo game.

How is this a fear?

What I fear most is the lack of characters... the lack of Groose...! D:

how so? it'd still be better than get almost no 3rd party games.

Nintendo uses them too much as it is.

If it is not going to be the best in a series I have ever played I would rather have a new setting and characters or I enjoy it less.

I fear they won't have online co-op...oh wait....T_T

Well, besides that I might suggest playing solo to learn the controls (you and your co-op player) then jumping into co-op. Either that or mash buttons on an easy setting

No matter how many people complained about the learning curve in Wonderful 101 none of them seemed to have it on an easy setting. Why make it harder if you don't already get it?

I agree.

My biggest fear is this game doesn't sell well. But it would appear from the various recent Famitsu surveys that it is potentially going to be very popular in Japan. I would like this to sell well, as I expect many of us would, to finally have some good news third party success and to help convince others to get on board.

I'll take this, and other 3rd party games. If they have to be shoehorned into Nintendo IP's or have Nintendo Skins to sell, then I'd take that over not having them at all. For instance, I am interested in Fire Emblem games as I like turn based strategy (coming from a Civ Fanatic background, and enjoying other turn based classics - Battle Isle, Panzer General etc) so if a third party were to jump on board with some sort of strategy tactical game for the Wii U, I'd be keen. But not only that, just other games in general. It would be nice to have a choice of titles. In the interim, might have to satisfy myself with either Radient Dawn or get a 3DS, but I digress.

Newb. I play with the balance board+ wii mote. All you need to do is swing it.

This comment wins the thread. Problem solved. We can all go home.

@unrandomsam Aside for the other comments of that being better than no 3rd party support, I find it really silly to compare two games in a franchise that don't play at all like each other. Hyrule Warriors and Skyward Sword are two examples, but would you really compare DK: King of Swing to DKC2: Diddy's Kong Quest or DKCTF? Would you really compare Mario Kart Wii to Super Mario Galaxy? Heck, I would argue that it doesn't make sense to compare Other M to any of the Metroid Prime series. It just seems silly to me to say something like "this game plays nothing like Zelda, despite have Zelda characters and being in Hyrule. I HATE IT!"

But then maybe I'm inclined to think that way because I see a franchise like I do a brand. Zelda, Mario, Donkey Kong, and Poke'mon are all brands that I trust. Their games rarely, if ever, let me down. On the flipside, generic FPS number 58 has a name I'm unfamiliar with and sounds generic. (This is just for example's sake. I'm not saying all 3rd party support is generic FPS [number here])

Anyways, aside from this, I don't see a trend following this game, or if it does, the trend won't last once the devs realize they've gotta do a lot of research on the genre to appease the megafans.

I was never worried by this since I usually play party games with friends, not other games

I really want to buy Hyrule Warriors but I don't want to buy a Wii U Pro Controller.

Hyrule Warriors control aside, do yourself a favor get a pro controller, it's Nintendo's best controller to date and the battery life is amazing on it. You can leave the game pad in the cradle and enjoy using the pro controller which offer superior comfort.

I played with the classic controller add-on to wii-remote and I was disappointed with the feel of it, the Pro controller feels nothing like the classic controller it's on par to the Xbox One.
