Now, the Blue Shell power up from New Super Mario Bros. had a far worse design then the Propeller Suit...... and the blue shell power up is a "animal power up"
I agree with Waveboy the Propeller suit was just laaaaaaame. I mean come one did the guys who come up with the suit designs go on strike that week? I mean heck even Balloon Mario in SMW was alot better than the propeller suit.

If you didn't like the Propeller Suit you're not going to like NSMBU very much. Preview coming soon.
Yeah that's what I thought it is basically the exact same thing. You shake the Gamepad/Wii Mote to jump high in the air and then you glide down pretty much exactly like the Propellor suit.
I doubt this game would do it, but I always thought it would be cool if one of the players could play as Yoshi. And then another player could ride on top of him. Sort of like in Donkey Kong Country Returns. What would be even cooler is if while playing as Yoshi, you could turn enemies into eggs an throw them. That would be some asymmetric gameplay. That would be Yoshi's ability to make up for the fact that he can't use powerups.
Also, bring in Wario and Waluigi and add in a team based mode similar to the original Donkey Kong Country games where two players play at a time, four players total. Each team taking turns after each other, similar to Super Mario Bros. 3. If two GamePads were an option, you could have a total of six players, three on each team. Or maybe even have one team play on the gamepads so they can simultaneously play different levels, each working towards the end of the game.
And bring back character stats, like in Super Mario Bros. 2/USA. Then when you play as your Mii, it will have its own stats just like in Mario Kart Wii.
Sheesh, so many ideas and yet Nintendo just sticks to the same formula. Even Super Mario Bros. 1, Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World were much more different from each other than each New Super Mario Bros. game.
I LOVE the backgrounds in this one. The great looking acorn trees (with eyes), the mountains, and the painting backgrounds look miles ahead of anything I've seen in NSMBWii.
I don't know why you'd want to see "next-gen effects" in a Mario game especially a 2D one. I wouldn't want a 2D Mario to look any different,. Short of an entirely new style along the lines of Paper Mario or Yoshi's Island the look of New SMB is look is as good as it gets for 2D Mario as is IMO.

"Don't stir the pot" is a nice way of saying "they're too dumb to reason with"
I proply get this game along with Pikmin 3. The graphics in this game are amazing but it makes me wonder what the 3D Mario game for this console generation going to look like
For some reason, it just feels like this game is going to be like way, WAY better than NSBM2, i mean yoshi's that can become into balloons, baby yoshi's, etc. I mean is there any yoshis in NSMB2? I really liked yoshi in NSMBW, and to me, the WiiU version looks more beautiful than NSMB2. I will get NSMB2, but it seems like they put more work into the WiiU version

Oh for sure! Too bad everything else doesn't 'HD resolution' aside. Hell, the character models & animations look identicle by the looks of things and there doesn't seem to be any crazy NextGen effects going on either. Nintendo could of done a lot more to impress, but they're clearly going for a super clean, minimal and basic approach....'again' The Next 3D Mario will be sure to Donatello-dazzle though!
Well, there's anti-alialising, so there's that. Either way, most Mario games have been using the same 3D Mario model in the past years.

NSMBU is a sequel to NSMBW. NSMB2 is a sequel to NSMB1. Hence the numbering system. They are basically two different series.
I wouldn't call them two different series, the numbers and such really don't matter. Of what I've seen U doesn't really have much to do with Wii, neither does 2 to the original. Its more so, the original started on DS. The Wii game is like a spin-off. Then 2 on 3DS is the sequel to the original game, which are both handheld games. I don't know. They're all under the "New Super Mario Bros." brand, or series.
