Hey,

At first i thought it was my surround setup, but I do get subwoofer sound in other games.
No sub in Mario Kart 8, surround 5.1 setup.

Anyone know why?

I have a Klipsch 2.1 hooked up to my TV and my woofer is just fine. Maybe MK8 is not compatible with surrounds?

Hmmm... I was fairly certain that MK8 used subs, but that may have just been my speakers. I guess I'll pay attention to that, the next time Iplay it. I tend to keep my sound system at a fairly low level.

With stereo i do have a sub, but no surround :S

It seems that for some reason Nintendo decided not to use the sub channel in 5.1 ??!

Yup, I just checked, and there's no sub in surround mode. My speakers still have good bass, but it's kind of weird that it's not there. Maybe they figure that there is enough bass when you have surround sound. Who knows?

No, the subwoofer is used for cinema & games for a better sound experience. Especially in surround setups where you typically have high-pass filter on your main speakers (so that all the low frequencies are only getting from the sub) it's a bit of a problem, I have almost no bass because of this.

Can't think of any reason not to use the sub channel intentionally.
I will try to contact Nintendo about this.

You do that. I'd rather have the subs, too. They might have done that on accident, given that stereo is supporting it, or maybe they planned on updating it later for whatever technical reasons. Let us know what they say.
