I saw the listing of new stuff for the upcoming DLC content for mario kart 8. It just said 8 tracks per pack. Does track imply that it will not be a battle arena?
My kids still want to play Mario Kart 64 over the Wii U version I bought because it has no battle maps. Honestly, I can't blame them. We have more fun and spend more time in those battle arena maps than racing in the grand prix.
Is this true? Is nintendo adding content to mario kart that is not including battle arenas? How can this be?
Maybe that will be a future dlc.... I don't like battle mode much, so it's no big deal for me. BUT.... it sounds reasonably priced if you like it that much, assuming $12 is also the price
The game might have been too big for the system to handle if they added battle courses. Although, then again, we are getting 16 new courses, so I don't know why they didn't include them.
I do hope this is a future DLC pack. At the very least something like Block Fort, Double Deck, Luigi's Mansion, and SNES Battle Course 4 would be great.

Perhaps some of the new courses will also be available as battle tracks? IMO, with the update, the biggest issue with the WII U battle mode was fixed: the player can now get the map on the screen, not needing to look down on the Gamepad for the map.

because they are not part of the finished product. mario kart was finished. this stuff is extra
I think they decided to focus on what they're releasing because they consider it a better priority and arguably significant for Wii U's success (seriously they chose November, that's not a coincidence).
The cynic in mean thinks there's a possibility that they want to save something for Mario Kart 9 on the HDS though.
Me personally I am not a big fan of battle modes in Mario Kart games, played it a bit in the SNES and N64 Mario Kart games but they just weren't my thing. However I do know that the battle mode is one of the most popular modes in MK games so it strikes me as odd that they dont have them in MK 8. Perhaps a future DLC will bring them.

I really didn't like Double Dash's Battle Mode all that much. Didn't have anyone to play DS's with. Wii's was really weak. Played it like once. I've enjoyed 8's Battle mode more than any of the previously mentioned titles. 64's Battle Mode is still the best.
Yeah, I'm still playing old Mario Kart games because of the lack of a worthwhile Battle Mode in 8. I don't understand why Nintendo would rather me play even Super Mario Kart over Mario Kart 8.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
Maybe there wasn't enough activity on Mario Kart Wii and 7's online battle leading to the decision "battle isn't important". It sure isn't important to me as I rarely played battle, give me more GCN and Wii race tracks any day.
In Mario Kart Double Dash the Shine Thief mode on Block City was the best! With three friends you could play the whole weekend and never had to change the mode.
