Topic: Nintendo's Wii U GamePad prototype was two Wii Remotes taped to a monitor

In the latest Iwata Asks, Nintendo’s CEO brought along a couple of never-before-seen Wii U GamePad prototypes.
Here’s the first one:

It’s a rather odd contraption. Essentially, the prototype is a Wii Zapper peripheral with a nunchuck and screen attached.

The first pic i was like Wtf? It just shows how ninty are so creative.

imagine if you need it to attach two wiimotes to a small tablet for it to work. thank goodness for the GamePad!

That second contrivance looks like it would make for an excellent FPS scenario.

the second one was in the trailer for the wii u wasn't it but it had the game pad on top instead of that black thing

I haven't read the article but it looks as if they may have been trying to keep the wiimote as a core element to the game pad. I can't blame them when they cost around £40 each!
