I understand that Nintendo says they have people monitoring the Miiverse for inappropriate comments or activities, but I don't think this extends to drawings, probably text alone. I was playing Nintendoland yesterday with my nine year old son and one mii was walking around in the plaza with the "N" word repeatedly scribed in his word cloud. Another guy simply drew a shaded penis in his and proudly displayed it to the world. I had to completely lock my kids out of Miiverse interaction because of that crap. What's the matter with kids? Have some freaking decorum. Since mii's walk around in Nintendoland with their mii name displayed not their NNID, there seems to be no way to tip off Nintendo either. Any tips?

You can tap on that Mii, select "Go to post" and report it there

I'm not sure if this is NOA people being too slow or just being unable to deal with stupidity like this the moment it happens.

I'd also like to apologize on behalf of gamers everywhere. I'm often one of those "censorship is always horrible" type of people but I'm hopeful Nintendo is being as strict as they say they are, as I lost enough faith in humanity after years of playing Halo 2 and the like on Xbox Live. Hope those idiots are banned soon, trying to ruin everyone's fun...

I usually also agree that censorship is intrinsically wrong. I do believe however that saying and doing crap like that is also wrong. Say and do whatever you like, but don't ruin others experience by voicing your bigotry and or classlessness in a highly inappropriate forum.

yeah I witness a couple of drawings here and there and honestly I agreed 100%... I hear horrible stories about kids on xbox live saying all kinds of sh*t that even the older players don't do but hey most parents Assume it's okay... don't get me wrong I love playing games but hey what happen to playing some BB or any other sport outside??

The reason I say that because some of these kids feel its okay to say things behind the scenes but won't do so in a live setting....?

I just report anything I see in mii verse ... i think now more kids are on it now after christmas so hopefully nintendo will jump on this asap...calling NOA might actually make an impact as well...

This reminds me of that Iwata Asks interview where they describe developing penis drawing detection for Miiverse.

Motoyama: Yes, we never had such a problem with our Hatena services. But, when we brought Hatena Flipnote to the West, we were caught off-guard by the amount of penises drawn by people.

Kurisu: So the team and I had to come up with a way to create a system that auto-detects those types of pictures.

Kato: Kurisu-san suggested we study different types of penises in order to create figure out the relative shape and size people would draw. We spent a week doing that before we realized that we should have been looking at drawings of penises rather than real-life pictures. (laughs) We were very embarrassed about that.

Kurisu: My judgement on these types of situations is poor. (laughs)

Motoyama: After a week, we made very good progress on the system. Then we tested the system with Nintendo of America and told them to start drawing. It went horribly.

Kurisu: What we learned is that people enjoy drawing penises. Multiple ones. (laughs) The system was not prepared to handle that.

But to get back to this subject, it's truly ridiculous that there have to be small-minded people that like to post something dirty, especially for a family-friendly game. It's completely immature and foolish, and flagging their dirty posts and drawings on Miiverse so Nintendo could deal with it is all you could do. I would think Nintendo would be serious and quick enough to erase these posts and ban these people if they keep causing trouble.

I've had lots of people walking around with swastika signs in their posts and lots of people with "This post is being reviewed/overlooked", not to mention genital drawings. People like to test where Nintendo draw their line it seems, and sometimes things go through the cracks I guess.

In general the moderation on Miiverse is pretty solid and quite fast IMO.

Agreed, they do a pretty good at keeping it clean. But it can only work well if we do our part and report offensive posts

Its pathetic, I always report people like that because I refuse to let something as incredible as Miiverse turn into immature, disgusting chaos.

I see what you mean by this problem, like in super mario bros U i see people use a lot of swears in their comments but not inappropriate drawings. I don't think nintendo can do anything at all about it because there are to many people to deal with because this world today is messed up.

It sounds like Miiverse is a lot more awesome than I thought. Perhaps I should buy a Wii U much sooner...

yeah, i didnt waste my money on Ninty Land, i wasted it on NSMBU instead. ive come across many of those words, some pictures too. i dont think ninty is even aware of this!
