Just like I said, to catch people up to the story. If they do a game that takes place after Fusion, then people won't understand why Samus is part Metroid. Although, I guess they could just do an opening cinematic recapping that, sort of like how Other M recapped the ending to Super Metroid.

Nintendo is among the last people who care if everyone knows what happens in every single game of their series, they would not bother with this for the sake of story, like, ever.

Also if you need to completely remake a game just so the next game makes sense to newer players, you're doing it wrong.

HAL is working on a new game beyond Sakurai's team (along with Namco-Bandi) working on Smash Bros.? A new Kirby perhaps?

Fusion was available via ambassador program, so I'm sure if Nintnedo gets it rolling with GameBoy Color and GameBoy Advance titles on eShop soon enough fans won't won't be missing out or confused much at all. Now as for what Nintendo actually cares what to do with with their franchises, while it may be true all they care about is suprising people, but at this point they need all the help they can get if they expect to gain back the support from 3rd party devs they expect. Listening to what the fans is a huge part of that and most of the better devs know this 1st hand. They can't continue thinking oldschool expecting it to last forever and carry on with their fanbase because whether they're retro vets like myself or newcomers alike, we all grow up.

How do you know what fans what to make those statements? I'm talking across all consoles in general. I nkow how it is because Ivisit forums from each from time to time enough. besides, nobody ehre iss ayinbg they want old stuff. We're just suggesting new additions to the best selling franchises, nothing wrong with that. It's like I said because Wii U just came out, a lot of people don't kno what to make of it quite yet, which is why I said they need to listen to their loyal fanbase at this point.

You need to realize that listening to the fans is a terrible idea because no one will ever agree with each other and you won't please everybody anyway

No it's not a terrible idea because it's us they're catering to if they expect us to buy their products. So what if everybody doesn't agree? on who wants what? it's exactly the reasohn why they SHOULD listen so they have better ideas of what people do and don't like for their future productxs and services.

So us disagreeing with each other is the reason they should listen to us?

I already explained it to you. If they have NO idea what people like or don't like thweir product isn't gonna be such a huge success to continue to wing it and say "Oh everybody's gonna love thi!". Ya wanna know some truth about that that could hurt them? Spanning across rumors about the next XBox and PlayStation 4, how some people think they're going the touchscreen route for controlls, even Windows 8 because the more serious PC games simply aren't itneresdted in the ner user interface.. A lot of people are turned off by that idea completely, and a bunch of people are complaiaing over the new XBox 360 dashboard as it is. (I honestly don't haveany problems with it just yet) PS Vita isn't doing so hot simply because of this factor. Nintendo may cator to a slightly different audience, but right now it's not really enough to say whether it's hold up or fail, but anything is possible.

They should give up on games like Metroid,F-Zero, and Starfox because their old games, and you should feel old for liking them.

Why should they give up old franchises that sell like hotcakes? Everybody knows if it weren't for Nintendo back inthe day (Thoguh granted all they had for a while was Sega for competition til Sony jumped in) we might not even had an era of video games to usher in to begin with. That's probably the best reason for these franchises to stay (and of course to draw interestto the enxt generation and so on who never heard of them before), out of respect for those of us who's who grew up with them and stuck with em through thick and thin, like myself. I'll admit I do find at times here and there the games coming from these franchise have either become or are still childish, but honestly that's fine with me because I'm still a kid at heart regardless because of such classics, and I'm not ahsamed of it either. So at the same time as long as such series can produce core experiences I'm all for it becuase again, it was those that I grew up with and had such appreciattion for back then I've been able to take with me ever since.

Metroid and StarFox are at least decent and respectable, F-Zero...ehh, decent effort I suppose. But in all honesty I have no idea where Nintendo was going with Pikmin. Just saying.
