I hope there are some proper tests in EU courts though soon about EULA's though. (And digital content).
(Updating them at any time at any time and for any reason doesn't seem a very fair thing what if they just added on something saying to keep digital content you have to pay a fee of £50 a month.)

Freedom of the press is for those who happen to own one.
They're probably sick and tired of trolls claiming "internet freedom" as an excuse for breaking the rules. Same with Steam. It's not like they're going all NSA on people, but I'm sure they're tired of pedophiles, cheaters, and intensely inflammatory trolls getting to roam free.
I wonder if the guy in that vid even read the previous ELUA before the update. I would bet that he didn't.
Besides, it's not like Nintendo are going to do anything to stop people from playing their games or using the apps. Heck, if the Wii and 3DS are anything to go by, all Nintendo have ever done is improve the OS.
The EULA didn't change at all. This guy is an idiot
something so rare these days

Uh...pot meet kettle, because the update did come with a change to the EULA...I don't normally take a stand like this, but @WaLzgi there is no need to act like a Dbag especially considering you're a moderator of this site. It comes off as petty not to mention it makes you sound like a drone that blindly follows Nintendo. I love Nintendo dearly even after this shady move, but to call someone an idiot for no reason, especially when you don't know what you're talking about is wrong...

Perhaps I was too harsh . Anyway, why did he not accept it in the first place? Is he freaking out over something that won't happen?

Well I don't like when everything is a "conspiracy" these days. Anyway, I looked at the EULA and the only weird wording is the part where they can change your Wii U without notice. While this is pretty awkward wording, I don't think it will ever amount to anything. I think it may deal with unauthorized changes to the Wii U up to piracy

Seems like you've been holding onto this for awhile; for all parties to walk away from this shows what a great site Nintendo Life is.
I don't get the problem, honestly. Things have been like this on many devices for a long time. Basically every device with software/firmware updates has this. I know for a fact that Apple, Android, Sony, etc. have all had an agreement like this. If the guy doesn't like it, then he might as well just throw all of his stuff away, because none if it is "consumer friendly". His HDTV, 3DS, and basically every piece of technology in the world is required to have an FCC standard, which allows interference of any kind, whether you like it or not.
He is already breaking his own morals by having the TV on or his 3DS. This guy is clueless. Then he goes on to talk about cars. There are still signs telling you to stop, where you can and can't park, etc. This whole little fit is stupid as f***.
Modders and hackers. The smart ones that do that simply keep their systems from ever connecting online, which prevents updates from occurring. The rest just complain because they want to have their cake and eat it too. Regular users have no reason not to accept it.

Oh ok that makes sense. Thats one of the reasons I want to mod my Wii now since I never have it connected online anymore and anyway Nintendo wont be doing anymore updates for it. Just need to find the time to transfer my stuff from the Wii to the Wii U first.

Well I at least watched the first part, and his argument about the European Union is irrelevant in this case. The EU courts ruled that digital software licenses can be resold and publishers cannot legally stop the sale. That does not invalidate the entire EULA, and American courts did not make a similar ruling. Therefore, he has no legal authority to decline this agreement. Henceforth, he cannot use Nintendo's software until he agrees to their terms
Short version: Suck it up and hit "agree" or sell your Wii U
Yeah, this makes no sense. Pretty much every electronic has something like this you have to accept.
If modders and hackers want to mess around, either don't connect your console online or wait until the Wii U's lifespan is over. This is par for the course in terms of electronics...
