I have never heard of this. Can you provide some links to some of these many stories?

Do you have any photo evidence of this?

I've had my Wii U since launch and I've never encountered or even heard of this problem.

Is it safe to buy PS4 with it's constant HDMI issues or as an expensive grill?
Is it safe to buy X1 with it's disc drive problems or E100?

I sometimes feel like there are stories only about faulty WiiUs or anything Nintendo and competition is flawless.

I mean c'mon, the risk with faulty consoles is always there

I found a video of it. FWIW, my Gamepad doesn't have this issue.

To the OP: if you get a faulty system, get it replaced. The warranty covers it.

It's a common fault that can happen on any LCD screen. No surprises that there are Wii U GamePads with it

I don't get it. The video quality is too poor to be able to identify what the problem is.

I had a problem too, especially that Balloon Fight is probably worst example to show it, because it kinda blends with the background, stars and all. See those green dots looking like stars? That's the bug. You have it on the still without starting video too.

At least that's my guess

I think they are pointing out the left edge of the screen, in the video, where it is a bit washed out. My 3DS XL has a similar problem in the middle of the top screen, but it isn't even noticeable unless the entire screen is black or white, at any given time. It doesn't bother me at all, and that's besides that I only got a partially washed out screen when I sent it(the 3DS XL) in for speaker replacements. They ended up replacing the circle pad, too, so whatever.
