Q: As someone who's made a pretty significant investment in digital purchases for 3DS, I feel there may be some games that work better on 2DS than on 3DS — Virtual Console, for instance. But the 3DS games that have 3D functionality, I'd rather keep them on the 3DS. It's not really possible to do that...
Scott Moffitt: It's not tied to an account. Yeah. We haven't solved that yet.
Q: Are you working on solving it? It sounds like, to date, Nintendo has been pretty content to keep things as they are.
Scott Moffitt: If you look at the account system, the network ID system that exists now on Wii U, that's an effort for us to move beyond a device-centric approach to an account-centric approach. But we haven't done it on the handheld side of the business at this point. We hear that feedback. We hear that criticism, or whatever you want to call it, from time to time. We're not blind to it. But it's not something we've solved.
Seems like a flip the swtich thing to me. At least they know it's a problem .

Planning a secure account system to deal with financial transactions, necessitating transfer of data from a previous system and possible merging of accounts, that can't be exploited or hacked? Easiest job in the world.

Yep I do. My phone and tablet as well as nearly every connected account system can do this. I broke my phone and my replacement came in all I did was input my google account and everything synced up with my old phone/tablet.
The lack of a proper account system isn't a deal breker but it is pretty annoying and does make me worry about my systems more.

So Nintendo is saying that they're so incompetent that they can't tie games to an account, which is something both Sony and Microsoft accomplished eons ago? That's just utterly pathetic. No wonder that Nintendo can't be taken seriously when it comes to digital.
Nintendo has always been behind the times as far as things like this are concerned. Unfortunately it's not something I expect to see change anytime soon.

guys would you be willing to participate on a one day blackout were everybody agrees not to buy anything from the eshop or visit it at all for a whole day as a way to protest against lack of account system, that's the only way this issue is gonna be addressed..... this statement makes clear that otherwise they would just sit on their assess
Maybe you guys can send them a suggestion on how you would do it since it's so easy and all?
They can copy Sony's model, I'm perfectly happy with it, or microsoft's or Steam's or apple's or google's... nobody is asking Nintendo to invent the wheel there's nothing to "solve" its just a matter of will

My guess is there's a little more to it then will.
I don't get this. Just do whatever the hell Sony, Microsoft, Valve, etc already do with their systems. Is the concept really that hard for Nintendo to understand?

There's the design and implementation factors, and these companies aren't going to share details of their network security for obvious reasons.
Well, the 3DS system still works with friend codes.
My guess is that they'll have you type in your NNID on the 3DS to link, then the friend code from your 3DS on the Wii U, and that optiom will be accessible from the eShop, but both ID codes will work the same regardless of what system you're trying to friend(not sharing an account)
I.E. I can type in your NNID on my 3DS, but it will only connect to your 3DS unless cross platform play happens.
The 3DS only has one account, so you can't switch profiles, and you can't delete for an entire year.
That's just my speculation.
