I'm confused, isn't the XBOX 1 the console that came out before XBOX 360.
Also, I never knew there were 360 different types of XBOX.
And why's it called an XBOX, it's not shaped like an X.
I've also been wondering about this..
Not to mention the PlayStation 4. I mean, why is it called 4? You only get one.

As @ogo79 said, the SNS-RZ-USA is a prime giveaway that it's not a legit retail cart.
And yes, he is (usually) always right, and he is (almost) the sexiest gamer out there (not counting me) ;)
Xbox -> Xbox 360 -> Xbox One = No problem
Playstation 1-4 = no problem
Nintendo Wii -> Wii U = WAT I DONT UNDERSTAND
i know it may seem strange, but i tried on my skin. maybe the same shape of the two console, maybe the same wii logo... maybe other reasons, i don't know... but i'm firmly convinced that change the name to Nintendo U may change the sort of the console. and it's not too late to do this change

The problem isn't the name. The problem was the announcement and marketing. When Nintendo first showed off the Wii U no one knew if it was a new console or just a controller. This confusion lasted well after the release of the system. Their marketing has gotten better and they have provided real reasons how the Wii U is different than the Wii. Changing the name now is going to hurt more than help. Maybe if they did the name change last year they could have gotten away with it but it is too late now as it wouldn't help them at all.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

The fact is that even I as a pretty dedicated Nintendo gamer was kinda left wondering why I got the thing fairly early on. Rayman Legends being a launch title and an exclusive was what pushed me to pre-order it. And even those two things didn't happen in the end. The idea that the name was the problem is a pretty simple view of what was going on. The fact is that there wasn't really a compelling reason to own a Wii U until Mario Kart 8 came out. I know I enjoyed it before then but I also know that I'm not "most people" when it comes to Nintendo.
Anyways, it's not new. You could argue that one name or another would have been better but at the end of the day you just need a name that people can ask for. In that respect don't think "Nintendo U" would have worked because the shop conversation would have been pretty confusing:
customer: Hi, I'm after a U
salesperson: Yes, How can I help?
customer: My son wants the Nintendo....
salesperson: Sure, I can get one for you....
salesperson: Here's a 3DS that'll be...
customer: No, I don't want that. He wants U
salesperson: I'm sorry?
customer: The Nintendo...
salesperson: ....
customer: forget it...

btw, i still stand with my idea. it's never too late for a little big change

This!
Also, please keep in mind that Nintendo makes the marketing mainly based on (exclusive) content. That made it extremely difficult for them to market the Wii U during the first year. Nowadays, they can make promotion campaigns that establish the name: "Mario Kart 8 - Only on Wii U", "Bayonetta 2 - Only on Wii U", "Captain Toad - Only on Wii U", and so on. At the time Zelda U releases, there will be no confusion of what a Wii U is.

Except that:
1. The whole reason people tend to complain about the name "Wii U" is because it allegedly causes retail confusion. I don't see how naming the console "The U" solves that. Seems like an even more confusing name if you ask me
2. I was being kind to your idea by talking about it as if it was original name for the system. Changing it now is idiocy
3. That's not how you behave as a consumer. It doesn't take much at the point of sale to push someone away from not getting the product at all if they're unsure. I know from personal experience that I haven't picked up things for the most trivial reasons. Especially when I'm not a walking encyclopaedia on the options.
I think you really need to take a step back and reassess the wisdom of changing the name of a product that some consumers were already confused about. I mean really think about it, don't just repeat the same thing again. Not just the issue of adding to the confusion, but also the practicality of Nintendo having to rebrand all of the software and peripherals, and possibly even do recalls.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
TBH with the words "Wii" and "U"? I don't know what the massive whine is about really. I think it makes sense as a brand. Besides, it's not the first time those two words have been slammed together, and it worked pretty well the other times.....
