Hi guys!
do you think that nintendo should change wii u name?
i see too much confusion .... in stores people assumed it as a peripheral for the wii, not as a new console. people buy wii u game as wii game. there's A LOT of confusion.
i think that name changing is the answer. do u?
Nintendo U is the right name in my opinion and maybe they can use stickers or dust jackets for the previous games and console
i also think that it can help a lot the sales...

I don't think that's a good name, and I'm pretty sure that changing the Wii U's name would only make that confusion a lot worse. In regards to the name, that ship sailed long ago, and there's no changing it now.

i think that they have to do this IMMEDIATELY. wii u can remain as a second name.
misanderstanding is what u can see in every store and in every part of the world. change is the only answer in my opinion.

I think it would only confuse things even further. Think about it, consumers would be even more unclear on what works on their system if the game boxes(especially for older games) say Wii U and the system is called the Nintendo U.

Nintendo just needs to stay the course. Any name change at this point would just make things worse.

but they can write "include wii games and controllers compability" on the box...

I don't think the name is much of a problem, especially now that the Wii U has been out for almost 2 years.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

The name is starting to stick with the people, so renaming it now would only cause unnecessary confusion.
However, Nintendo U sounds awful. As if they were trying to point their finger at people like Uncle Sam.
If anything, they need a more powerful and less playful name. The Wii would've been better off keeping the project name Revolution, and I'm thinking along that direction for WiiU. And if there hadn't been a white version at all, I would've gone for the Nintendo Blackbox, or Radiance.

It's too late, they should'ave changed it in the beginning so now they have to stick with the name.

I don't agree. The nintendo u moment is now. i would to confess u that i lived on my skin this missunderstanding, not only by seeing other people but i was thinking that wii u was a peripheral for the nintendo wii. Now i've bought a nintendo u and i think that is very sad to see all this confusion, expetially when you feel the same particular magic as when you got nintendo 64 and nintendo gamecube. The gamepad is amazing!

So come on nintendo!:
-change the name by removing the word wii
-make a baddonkey software update
-make Super Mario U and Zelda U

The moment is now for you, because you just bought it.

Imagine this scenario

Customer - My son wants me to get him the new Nintendo console.
Assistant - Ah The Nintendo U.
Customer - No it was called Wii something.
Assistant - Yes the Wii U,this is it here Madam.
Customer - Oh I saw that on TV.I thought that it was just an add on for the Wii?
Assistant - No,it is actually Nintendo's latest console.
Customer - Oh but I thought you said the Nintendo U is the latest console?
Assistant - It is Madam but they changed the name to avoid confusion.
Customer - But now I am confused.
Assistant - Yes Madam,so am I !

No it's not. Changing the name will only cause more confusion. It's not as if the long gone [casual] Wii audience suddenly comes back and realises; ''Dang, never knew about this new console, should get one ASAP.'' The people who are interested in Nintendo products, or games in general, know what a Wii U is.

Zelda U is coming, and there are two Mario games out on the Wii U already.

Yep the name sucks we all know that most people still think its an addon for the Wii or simply an upgraded Wii (which is technically correct) but as the console has been out TWO YEARS they cannot change the name now. They in my opinion have two options just bide their time with first party games and release a new console or spend lots of money of marketing the WII U and dropping the price.

nintendo always support console for the whole life cycle, so in my opinion is excluded that a new console coming out soon.

I'm confused, isn't the XBOX 1 the console that came out before XBOX 360.
Also, I never knew there were 360 different types of XBOX.
And why's it called an XBOX, it's not shaped like an X.

They indeed support the console the duration of the life cycle but a Home consoles life cycle averages around 5 years, with last gen being one of the longest. So it is more than likely that we'll have a new console around 2017/2018

Everything can change, but I'm never changing who I am

I've also been wondering about this..

Not to mention the PlayStation 4. I mean, why is it called 4? You only get one.

For some reason, people don't seem to get confused about Xbox. Somehow, it's possible for these people to get confused only when talking about Nintendo. They are also the same people who believe in the following claims:

All the Mario games are the same game.
Nintendo never creates a new IP.
Nintendo games are for kids only.
Wii U controller is a gimmick, and it feels bad ergonomically.
Wii U is just an upgraded Wii.
Nintendo games don't have online.
etc. etc. etc.

Their symptoms resemble a psychologically fatal mental disorder called the "Delusion Ignoraunce".

Changing the name would kill the system. Next time Nintendo should start with a simpler name.

I will update this when Half Life 3 arrives. [Started 17/11/2015]

I was actualy trying to be sarcastic. I do agree with your point though.

If anything, they should have called it Super Wii, like it was called in one of Japanese commercials.
