Topic: Nintendo trying to acquire Rare

I'm reading on a few sites that Nintendo is trying to buyout Rare, and I hope it's true because they're no good in the hands of Microsoft.

You do realize that Rare has been uber profitable under Microsoft and probably has made their two most creative game's Drona gameplay perspective in VP and N&B.

But stake rumored is fake because
1 ) The Rare IP is very vauble for Microsoft.
2) Rare is Microsoft's main kinect studio and is also heavily invested kn the avatar stuff on the OS side.
3)Rare helps other developers on a tech level similar to how Sony Santa Monica helps smaller studios.
4)Rare is currently hiring for multiple next gen xbox games.
5)Zelda informer is Zelda informer

I don't think Rare would want to work with nintendo again, and their making a killing off X-Box's Avatar.

the only thing that could possibly happen is that Nintendo buys the name and back catalog. They will never buy the studio itself because the old Rare has long gone. and there is nobody left there from the old days. Rare was the Stamper brothers and they left when Microsoft took over.

There is still quite a few old people left at rare. Most did leave after the stamper brothers left to recreate superman the movie. And another chunk left to form free radical.

And the stamper brothers didn't leave when Microsoft took over. They left in 2007 after Viva Pinata.

If anything I just wish Nintendo would buy out the franchises from RARE that are rotting away as they'd make better use of them.

Buying the Banjo Kazooie license? Maybe?

Even the Zelda Informer article admits how unlikely this is btw.

It's unlikely and improbably any way you see it.

The only way we'll see Banjo back on Nintendo's consoles is if Microsoft decides to license it to a 3rd Party (like THQ or Majesco). The last two Banjo games on Nintendo's platform were Banjo Pilot and Banjo Kazooey Gruntilda's Revenge on GBA. Now that MS is pushing their Windows8 phones, they'll probably have such titles on their phones instead of Nintendo's portables.

This is not happening.

If this is remotely true they are probably just trying to buy an IP of them.

Nintendo can gain a lot by having Rare back. Their virtual console service would be very much improved. Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Banjo-Kazooie, Conker, Battletoads, Diddy Kong Racing, ...and for me Wizards & Warriors. Not sure how many other W&W fans there are out there... Also, Banjo, Kazooie, Conker and the Battletoads could be in Smash Bros. games. And maybe Nintendo wouldn't be so shy about using DK characters that Rare made, even though they have the rights to.

Rare aren't even good Devs. If only this could be true so people could stop complaining about something minor as this.

Also, Nintendo needs Rare back so they can release Donkey Kong 64, since the game includes Jetpack which is owned by Rare.

@TheDreamingHawk How is this minor? There are a plethora of games and franchises that are being stifled due to rare and Nintendo's separation.
