No, not a tablet. Only something like a Nintendo App, which allows you to purchase games away from home and play them when you get home, access MiiVerse, get the latest games info and stuff from Nintendo, and such like that.

God first.

A GamePad 2.0 that I could take anywhere I would fully support. Mind you, it would still connect with the Wii U console.

It would probably still only be able to play Wii U games when close enough to the Wii U console, but it should be able to work on its own. It should be able to play 3DS games. It should have memory for VC games. It should be able to connect to wifi, 3g and 4g networks, browsing and gaming on the go. Miiverse integrated. Facebook. Twitter.

Hell yes I actually think this is a cool idea. I dunno if it would sell too the masses, but I would buy it.

This could also opens the door for them to be able to sell the Wii U as console only at a significantly marked down price, with the GamePad being optional. Of course they would have to do an OS update so you could operate your console and eShop using Wii remotes and Procontrollers only if you don't want the GamePad (Why can't you control eShop anyway with Wii Remotes, what gives?), and Games would also need an update that explains that a GamePad is needed to play said game, or when you need to connect a GamePad.

GamePad being optional is not my preferred option, as I think having the GamePad is fantastic, and everyone should experience the Wii U that way, but if people aren't buying into it, maybe that could be a "solution". A truly portable GamePad 2.0.

Early adopters could have the option of getting a discount on a GamePad 2.0 if they trade in their GamePad 1.0.

I dunno, just throwing ideas around. Maybe its a horrible idea. I like it better than a dedicated tablet though.

Launch it and market it as "The Nintendo GamePad", or "Nintendo GamePad U" building on the GameBoy brand, and possibly linking it to the WiiU by adding the U at the end.

Re-reading the post I guess this is sort of what Vita is trying to do. Problem here is that Vita doesn't have Nintendo games (haha, in my my opinion anyways), and the Vita / PS4 Combo is way too expensive. This is why Wii U should be less expensive. Also, PS4 didn't launch with the Vita bundled, so it doesn't have the same impact. Even though Vita has a larger install base than Wii U at the moment, it is not certain that those are the same people that also have a PS4. I also hear remote play is still not seamless, experiencing lag during play.

A nintendo tablet should be able to:
•Download eshop content while you're not at home using nintendo network ID
•Acess Miiverse
•Have ALL major video game news apps(IGN,Gamespot etc.) optimized so that it will only be able to acess Nintendo stuff
•Have a Nintendo Music Store that's like itunes but for video game music(WHO DOESNT WANT SM3DW MUSIC ON YOUR TABLET)
•If the menu is like an iPhone, you'll be able to put nintendo-themed backgrounds on your home
•Not be a video games console that can play Wii U and 3DS games

Pretty much agree. Tim Cook said something about MSFT- they are confused. They want their tablets to be laptops and their laptops to be tablets. We are going to see a convergence that will become more and more pronounced. Nintendo is going to have to navigate these waters. The issue is that in a few years, if not sooner, we'll get the processing power of a console (if not much more) in a handheld device for much less. I think this is why Sony has its Vita and to a degree what Nintendo is thinking with its gamepad.

Will a "juiced" GamePad essentially be the next console? Or- maybe the handheld/gamepad has a certain level of functionality that can only be unlocked if you buy a console, whatever it might be.

Nintendo should stay away from manufacturing its own versions of popular display-tech like TVs, phones, tablets, then retrofitting those concepts to play games their way. People will stick with existing brands if they aren't solely after the gaming capability. What they could do is become compatible with everything that has a display with their own hardware be it a tv, phone, tablet. I'm not sure what shape that hardware would take, but if they can "smart-glass" everything with a display to play games via an inventive and attractive proprietary device that's as easy as buying a new phone/tablet accessory, that might be an ok alternative to making their own self-contained proprietary gaming devices.
