Topic: Nintendo Shuting Down Hatena Is Not A Good Thing To Do

Don't have a 3DS yet, still with the DSi...
However, they BETTER not shut down the DSi shop. (Or they can make everything for free before it shuts down. I can dream, can't I?)

Ya it did. Watch the video. It still has the Hatena jingle and says at the bottom, 'online services managed by Hatena Co.'.

Maybe it's still a little early for me to figure out what's going on with Flipnote 3D. But from what I've seen on the video for Flipnote Gallery World, they have not pointed out that it will be run by Hatena. Also, I noticed that Iwata San had mentioned user ratings instead of stars. So it doesn't look like they will continue with Hatena. But we'll see...

I'm pretty sure they were refering to the original service. Otherwise, they would have added that small message when talking about Flipnote Gallary World, instead of the previous services.
After all, if this was produced by Hatena, why would they get rid of the PC version?

I think as long as DSiWare is being made (and for a while after that) the DSi Shop will still exist.

Go to 5:25 and look at the bottom of the screen. It says Hatena runs Flipnote Studio online services. They are moving the current service from DSi to 3DS in full form, plus dividing it into 2 communities. Just having the Hatena frog jingle is enough proof they run it. Nintendo makes the app only(I think, but probably still regards Hatena Co. suggestions), then leave the rest up to Hatena.

It just doesn't make sense to me why they never put that message when talking about Flipnote Hatena instead of Flipnote Gallery.
Also all of Hatena's previous services have Hatena in the name. But this one doesn't. And just the simple reason of changing the name tells me Hatena isn't paying for those 3DS servers. They don't even show the Dancing Frog when loading anything on Flipnote Studio 3D. The only mention of the Frog was a little sound at the beginning, but no content footage shows the frog.

It says that Flipnote Hatena is run by Hatena. That doesn't imply to me that Hatena runs Flipnote Gallery Friends and World. They pointed out that Flipnote Hatena is run by Hatena near the end of the video when they announced that they will shut down Flipnote Hatena for the DSi. I still don't think that the new service is being maintained by the independent company. I believe Iwata meant the flip-notes from Flipnote Hatena will be transferred to Flipnote Gallery.

They only mention Hatena runs it once, and figure you won't forget 30 seconds later in the video.
This announcement pretty muchs confirms Hatena still runs it from what I can tell.
It doesn't even matter, the same service options are going to be available whether it's Hatena or not. You will still be able to access it for free at at certain times, one free month of service, you can earn service, and you can simply just import your flipnotes to a computer.

But if one pays close attention to the video, they will notice that the little caption isn't thrown in there at a random time. The caption is placed at the time when Iwata said they will conclude the online service for the DSi. There are roughly 3 parts to this video

• Part I talks about the newer Flipnote application itself without talking about the online gallery
• Part II talks about the Flipnote Gallery and how it will work in a nutshell
• Part III talks about the current state of the online Flipnote service for the DSi (Flipnote Hatena) and announces that it will shut down along with the web version

The little caption is placed in part III of the video. It gives me the tiny idea that Nintendo is moving away from Hatena.

But whatever. It seems like we are arguing for what we want to believe. We can believe what we want to believe, but we will get closer to the truth when the new application releases. Then we can see if the new Flipnote Gallery interface looks similar to Flipnote Hatena ^_^

Meh, people will come up with their own free service to replace it. After all, can't you export FlipNotes in image and video form now? This seems like a great potential business opportunity for any fan site/news site/gaming site willing to pick up the slack and replace Hatena for good.

I will miss Flipnote Hatena, if only for the awesome person who does (or rather did) a series called Flipnote Mario.
Goes by the name of YDash I think. Without Hatena, he/she won't be able to post anymore 'episodes'...

Hopefully the people of Hatena can use SD Cards to post their flipnotes and it can still go on.

Bingo. There's apparently a feature to export Flipnotes as GIFs and video files, so someone just needs to set up their own free service to replace Hatena. Then all's fine and everyone can continue as it has been doing.

Guys...the frog, the jingle and the layout does not mean it's from Hatena. The frog is the Flipnote frog (Not the Hatena frog), the jingle is the Flipnote jingle (Not the Hatena jingle), and the layout is the Flipnote layout (With or without Hatena supporting it).
Unless it says it somewhere in fine print, it's no indication Hatena's still behind it.
