I'm quite the opposite. Monster Hunter can die off for all I care but Megaman is way too important.

There's a new Mega Man coming out in April.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

The megaman dev team isn't even on that anymore, they're either dispersed, working on other projects, or making Mighty Number 9. Sure Capcom could resurrect it next year, but they'd have to create an entire new dev team. How much of those games is the IP and not the gameplay itself? Just look at # 9; the entire lesson of that is that the license isn't needed.

About Monster Hunter, I'm not sure that lightning strikes twice. I'm not sure you'll get another AAA publisher to greenlight a game about hunting down giant monsters in a very naturalistic setting with a dev team that knows how to make anything close to Monster Hunter. Just look at all of the straight fantasy and dystopian Monster Hunter knock offs. Even just look at Dark Souls, I hate that setting and the increased difficulty and focus on attacking trash mobs just ruins it for me. There is almost no other series focused entirely around a bunch of repeatable boss battles.

I'm sorry, but I'll gush for ages on this; there are so many brilliant and complex systems working together in perfect balance in Monster Hunter. All of the different weapon & item effects, the monster stamina & enrage timers, and the destroyable monster parts. It's just so perfect and tons of emergent stuff happens; much of which has developed and amassed as the series has gone on with a lot of assets to pull from that allow Monster Hunter 4 to have 75 freaking unique boss monsters in it. Probably about half of those are legacy; mostly finished bosses that a new IP doesn't have the luxury of drawing from least they get sued out of the game.

So yeah, Monster Hunter is GREAT, please don't let it die before I get my dream open world Monster Hunter drop in-drop out coop PS4 Monster Hunter with 100 monsters or something crazy. Like, can you imagine that? That's any action/adventure fan's dream.

I tried the MH4U demo and I haven't played a single game with worse controls than it, sure I'll try it again this weekend once I have my New 3DS XL as the c-stick will probably help somewhat (have a 3DS XL currently so no option for Circle Pad Pro) but as of now MH4U will be another 3DS game I avoid.

Just like anything you need to learn it. The Monster Hunter 4 demo is simultaneously too easy for vetrans and too hard for beginners, which tells you a lot about how complex the game is. The game, in broad strokes, is about learning enemy attack animations, learning your weapon's attack animations, and using the dodge roll to avoid getting hit while maximizing your time to hit (and avoiding getting hit when sharpening weapons, drinking a health potion, etc). The series has high animation priority, which means that once you start an attack you go until that animation finishes, so you have to plan your strikes and stop button mashing if a monster is about to gore you.

If by controls you mean camera controls then tap the monster's icon in the lower left of the touch screen. After doing that to lock on you can click L periodically to recenter the camera on the monster. It's not quite like Z-targeting in Zelda, as it's not a sustained lock on, but you can learn to make it work in combination with the d pad. I've learned, anyway. The new 3DS's control nub will likely help newcomers, though.

It's not really a matter of opinion. Monster Hunter is larger than Mega Man.

So the last Mega Man game was like 5 years ago? It was a pixel art download-only game released in 2010? And one wonders why it waned... Seriously I had no idea they released one of the games so recently and with such an old art style. I mean, Mega Man Legends looked nicer...

If Capcom wants to revive the series they obviously need to update the visual style, because pixel art isn't great for physical copy sales in this decade. Rayman, for one, looks great with modern 2D graphics. So does the Mighty #9. I'm not being snarky, just realistic, here. That and they need to release the next one on actual discs in stores. After that it's down to marketing and word-of-mouth to determine the financial feasibility of that series.

I was talking about camera controls but yeah as I said I'll give it another go once I've got my New 3DS XL (had to delete the demo anyway in preparation for the inevitable system transfer from 32GB SD card to 4GB Micro SD card on Friday). The only main games I'm not willing to try out of Nintendo's 2015 lineup so far are the match 3 style games like Pokémon Shuffle and Puzzle & Dragons (those types of games will be the death of the Nintendo we know and love).

If I was Nintendo. I would be scuppering up some kinda deal to bring Conker, Banjo and the KI cast back home to Nintendo. I really don't see them as Microsoft characters.

Microsoft would charge an arm and a leg, Nintendo being their competition.

Nintendo really needs to go after Sonic, that series is utterly floundering under SEGA's incompetence and I don't think I can trust anyone but Nintendo to redeem the series.

Again, outside of nostalgia, why does Nintendo need to save an IP with a bad name for exorbitant amounts of cash? Why not just create a new IP or a Mario spinoff with similar gameplay? That's so much cheaper.

Like Captain Toad? Such a fun game and runs on the Mario 3d World engine I believe.

If YOU are willing to pay an arm and a leg, it would be worth it.

We can certainly discuss what we'd like to see, but keep in mind that running a company is a hell lot more complicated than "I want this to happen. Push button, done!"

Well, it they were going to make a speedy 2D platform-y game in the style of Sonic it would have to be even more different.

Speed Yoshi, anyone?

I'm not sure nostalgia has anything to do with it. It's a recognizable brand, and it has seen better days. If the gaming arm of Sega-SAMMY does go under, and the IPs go up for sale, Nintendo should jump all over it.

I have been, and still am, a supporter of Nintendo acquiring IPs that are in need of either reviving or saving. Sonic needs saving. A game like PSO needs reviving. Nintendo could acquire the IPs and do great things with them. Just saying...

Well, I didn't necessarily forget it. I just haven't played it, ever. But I made a list of IPs from which Nintendo could profit at the beginning of this thread (I think).
