I do think Nintendo needs to somehow lock down the Bayonetta IP with Platinum (for good), it's a an acclaimed franchise that fills in a pretty big gap within the Nintendo portfolio.

Who owns the IP? Sega or Platinum?

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

As of 2013, it was still SEGA.

Nintendo can't afford SEGA, Capcom and Namco Bandai...

Maybe not all three, not all at once, but definitely 2/3.

SEGA, I think, would be the best bet right off the bat. They have more franchises that Nintendo could work with. But Capcom has the biggest hitters from the three I mentioned.

But it doesn't have to be these three. I just mentioned these in particular because they've already formed a partnership with Nintendo. According to Iwata, any company is obtainable, if they're willing to be obtained.

That tittle lol. I would really want Nintendo to acquire P*. But we all know that won't happen lol.

I'm fine if someone wants to edit the title, or if someone can tell me how -_-v

SEGA owns the IP, if I'm not mistaken.

Why they didn't snatch up Atlus is beyond me. But I agree with others that Capcom and Platinum would be smart choices.

Wasn't it confirmed through the media that Nintendo at least put in a bid for Atlus? That being said, although Atlus is huge in Japan, they are kinda niche in the EU and NA, more so than any of the companies already mentioned.

They really need to buy Capcom for Mega Man and Street Fighter at least. It would allow them into a genre that they have been lacking a lot, fighting games. Also, Capcom has enough classic franchises where it wouldn't feel out of place.

Oh, Nintendo aquiring other companies. Pheewph. I thought you meant Nintendo was open to being aquired. That would've sucked...

So, I'm not the only one who thought that when I read the title. Perhaps it should be worded better?

I was confused. Only now it makes sense.

"They played us like a damn fiddle!" - MGS5
"Finish your mission, prove your loyalty." - MGS3
"We could take a s*** on you from such a height, you'd think God himself has crapped on you!" - GTA: SA

You guys do realize that Nintendo cannot afford any of those three companies you mentioned, let alone buy them all at once. Out of the companies you mentioned the only one worth buying is Capcom since they are the only ones with really valuable IPs that will sell well (Megaman, Resident Evil, Monster Hunter). Sega at this point isn't even worth it.

I agree with other people that say they should buy smaller studios to help make smaller games or to help with the development of larger games. They desperately need more western studios to make games that appeal to a western audience. They need to hire more people at their current studios so games aren't constantly being delayed.

Just because they are open to acquisitions, doesn't mean they will go bat s*** crazy and buy big name companies, either. It has to match their finances and interest in gaming IP. We could say that Nintendo should buy Capcom forever, and it could possiblly never happen, because Marvel doesn't want to be exclusive to Wii U or some BS like that. Disney games are also made by Capcom alot of the time, and I know Marvel is owned by Disney, but they'd basically be forcing Disney to go exclusive on Wii U, if they ever want Capcom to make a game for them.

Tekken would be exclusive if Nintendo bought them. This is serious business that none of them probably want to happen.

Sega is still heavily supporting Nintendo. Don't see nearly enough gain in internalizing that support to ever justify the billion dollar + investment likely necessary to purchase them outright.

Just as with last time Nintendo said something like this, everyone immediately jumps to the conclusion that he's talking about game studios, even though it's mentioned nowhere in the actual quotes.

"When we have a good encounter with a prospective partner who owns promising technology, and if we will be able to establish a good and long-term relationship that is based on trust between the core individuals at the companies, we do not need to be hesitant. In this regard, the actual investments we make may increase in the future."

In fact, he specifically mentions tech companies, not game studios.

False alarm, no need for another 30 page "Nintendo should buy Capcom" thread.

Yeah, think about it more as something like how Microsoft brought the guys who made Kinect sort of thing.

It probably won't happen, because Level 5 does good enough on Nintendo where they will release anyway. That's how it has been, anyway.

It probably won't happen because Nintendo is almost certainly not looking to acquire any game studios.

I don't think Nintendo has the money to buy CAPCOM with spare left to do something ggod with their IP's but it doesn't mwan Nintendo couldn't buy some IP's from Capcom or SEGA to diversify their portfolio with some recognizable IP's.
