"However, as I said at the beginning of the presentation today, Nintendo is a company that sees the true value of entertainment lies in its individuality. Following others into the exceedingly crowded market of mobile applications or the market of wearable technology that is expected to become increasingly competitive and fighting with brute force is not our way of doing business. Yet again, it is our intention to go into a new blue ocean."
Do you think this is a good strategy or a bad one? I'm not going to get too into this one. I'll let you guys duke it out.
What he mean by brute force? I understand brute force attack in network and computers but not in business. (Unless Nintendo been hacking under our own nose.)
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...

He probably means that they won't force themselves into those markets by releasing a mobile minimage or port after another after another after another and using invasive microsantractions or several wearable prodcuts out of nowhere without thinking it.
In other words, they won't try to force their way into the mobile or wearable market by copying others or drowning them with mindless products.

I assume means aggressively trying to compete with Sony and Microsoft in consoles. Trying to beat Sony and Microsoft at their own game, powerful, relatively expensive consoles. Well, at least when you try to interpret what he said broadly in a way we Nintendo fans actually care about in the short term.
I think he meant "brute force" as in.... "We're not gonna jump in the mobile market and make complete fools out of ourselves by pouring so much power into it. Did I mention we're going into a new ocean? AKA a new path?"
I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

I think Iwata is more or less saying that Nintendo needs to carve out it's own niche, that it can't / and won't directly compete with Microsoft / Sony, nor should they............they need to attract customers by creating products which are of a seperate identity when in comparison to their "so-called" non competitors.
Do I think this is a good strategy for Nintendo? No, not right now.....................they are trying to hedge there bets on another "Wii" episode, well, it's not going to happen this time, they need to be extremely pro-active, and yes, Sony and Microsoft are very much rivals who are eating into their market share.
