Not sure if any of you listened to the recent NVC on IGN but they were talking about unity supported games on the Wii U and also about html 5 and how the app they use on the PS4 is running off of that. They tried to pitch the idea to Nintendo but apparently they were not interested in the idea. What do you guys think about this, honestly I wouldn't mind the idea of the Wii U having more media functions on it and cause I used to use the IGN and Gametrailers apps on my 360 when I had it.
It doesn't matter. Wii U's internet browser can stream it just fine, through the browser. Wii U also has a better internet browser, IMO, so that's another reason why they shouldn't be worried about providing an app.

@UpdateNightmare And could play videos from an SD card or external hard drive / flash drive? Yes, that would be great.
I would jump with joy. I live in a country with serious band-with restrictions, and don't own a blu-ray or MKV player.
But it wouldn't stop just at movies. I could watch instructional videos with regards to my studies, while resting on my bed with the game-pad, and have full control over rewind. pause play, the ability to zoom in out, everything without having to worry about bandwidth (if you try and rewind something with you-tube, you have to basically re-download it each time...)
The Wii U gamepad would also make a nice picture frame.
