No, not a Zelda themed Wii U, just a gold color on a standard model. I'm not a fan of the iPhone 6 or the new Macbook, but I'm oddly compelled to get them because, well, who wouldn't want to flount their new tech with a shiny gold colored coat of paint.

They have graphic paint on 3DS, and New 3DS has changeable faceplates. Then there's the Wind Waker HD limited edition GamePad. Those are kind of the same thing, in terms of having different versions of console aesthetic that some may consider special.
I have no problem with Nintendo giving their consoles colour. None at all. But that's not what we're talking about here. What Apple is doing with their "gold" is entirely different. It's a gaudy pink-gold thing that's supposed to "impress" because it's a "fashion statement" but instead is just pretty awful looking.
I'm fine with consoles having different colours, especially game themed schemes, because they're toys. Frankly I'd rather get the black version purely because that colour matches all the other AV gear I have. Yes I have a Zelda edition 3DS XL but it's Zelda themed and not intended at all to be a "fashion statement". I'm cool with that. But "Apple gold"? I hope that if this is a trend it dies well before it gets to Nintendo. The less companies that do it the quicker it will die. Because if it doesn't, someone's going to eventually release something that's only that god awful pink-gold.
ITT: guys who get diamond hard nipples when Nintendo hardware with Rosalina or Kirby on it gets released but who get disgusted at the notion of a gold colored Wii U

Ya, but by owning that you are making a "nerd statement" saying 'check me out, I'm a huge Zelda fan and have a special edition 3DS that you don't'. It's really no different. You need to be more self aware.
I'm also willing to bet you already owned a regular edition 3DS before you bought the Zelda one, meaning you 'upgraded' purely because you wanted a 3DS that would stand out and provide you with a feeling of superiority. The same mindset the apple consumers you criticized have.
Absolutely not, Nintendo has made too many gold consoles of which their most recent one should've been purple instead!
The Majora's Mask 3DS looks much better in person than it does online. It's a truer shade of gold than the ALBW one and the way the light reflects off of Majora's Mask's eyes is really eerie. I don't know how a purple design could have worked, unless it was just the cover art.

I had a black original 3DS which I got in 2011. I got the special edition XL because I had been looking for an excuse to replace my well worn 3DS with an XL. And it also came bundled with not only A Link Between Worlds but there was another deal going where I'd get a code for 3D Land if I got an XL + a game. And I didn't pay a premium for it either, from memory it less than what an XL + the new Zelda cost separately. So yeah, BS.
Also you completely misunderstood what I was saying anyways. You instinctively took it as me having a go at Apple and their customers which wasn't at all what I was saying. I have a fair number of Apple hardware myself. So no. In actual fact I was talking about how "Apple Gold" looks horrible. The only reason it's not considered horrible by some is because they think it's fashionable. Which I think is a load. And if that "Apple Gold" becomes the default in the same way that "Apple White" did before it? That would suck.
