Topic: Nintendo Needs Their Own First Person Shooter ....

Ok, Ok, I know what you are going to say, Nintendo does not make FPSs, its not their style.

Well I propose that they do make one, and make it in their style!

So many FPS out there are shooting for a realistic look but to be honest, the first thing that pops into my mind when I see them is "how real they don't look" "How they fall short of looking real", so I propose Nintendo comes up a FPS that does not even attempt to "look real"

When I think about video games that transport me to another world, they are usually not realistic looking at all. Nintendo has always had the knack for creating beautiful and colorful worlds with characters with personality, vivid and wonderful worlds that suck you in and take you to another world.

I am 45 years old and have played my share of FPSs on other systems but what I crave is one from Nintendo. I don't need there to cursing or sex in it or even blood, I just want it to be fun and vivid and exciting and tense.

I want a new IP and I want it to be a colorful beautiful FPS created with the art style of NIntendo with innovative and tense gameplay.

If you could deliver that, I will not have any need to eventually buy a PS4 to satisfy my FPS needs.

I'm fairly certain you just described the Metroid Prime series.

And oh my geez people do not start a debate on if the Prime games are first person shooter, first person adventure, whatever.

I'm looking for a new IP. As crazy as it sounds ... think something like a Mario FPS ... wacky environments, goofy characters, insane weapons. But not Mario ... a brand new character in a brand new world but with the graphic qualities of a Mario game.

So... Borderlands? Jk. In response to your original post, Miyamoto is making a brand new IP and he's said he's interested in making his own FPS. He didn't really make Metroid Prime. I believe he was just the producer. But hopefully his new IP will be worthy of staying around and being mentioned in the same sentence as Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, etc.

How about finally getting that sequel to XIII?

Hear, hear! XIII was one of the best and unique first-person shooters I've ever played on PC. A sequel or a remake on Wii U would make very happy. That stylish cel-shading in 1080p and Wii Remote + Nunchuk controls would be awesome. Nintendo should talk to Ubisoft about it (I think Ubi still owns the property).

Nintendo used to own the FPS market on console with Golden Eye and Perfect Dark. Rare & Nintendo have basically written the blue print on how to make a great FPS on console. But, After that the FPS was refined and expanded with games like Halo, Call of duty, Battlefield, etc. The market for FPS is currently so saturated and developer for FPS have invested such large budget that Nintendo can't really compete in that market place. Beside, there nothing really that Nintendo can bring and innovate with a FPS. Innovation in FPS like exploration and adding other gaming elements as already been a la Metroid Prime.

Then you have Bioshock, Borderland, Far Cry, Left 4 dead,.... you even have Fallout 3 that combine FPS and RPG.

FPS also carries the Teen rating & Mature rating which will never really sale well on Nintendo kids friendly console. The best you can hope for is a 3rd party porting over from other console like Call of Duty: Ghost and that hopefully enough mature gamer pick up the game to cover the cost of porting it over on WiiU. If Nintendo can growth it's install base and we can get 5% of gamers to support FPS, you will keep seeing FPS on the WiiU. The problem is that ideally as a gamer you would play these games on a PS4 or Xbox One.

Nintendo can't offer a better multiplayer and graphical experience.

^ One thing Nintendo can offer is superior controls with Wii Remote and Nunchuk. I hate playing first person shooters with dual analogs, and if I had one of those consoles, I would avoid the FPS genre like the plague. FPS are meant to be played on a PC with a mouse and keyboard, or on a Nintendo console with Wii Remote.

I agree with you . nintendo needs a FPS diffrrent from everything with online team deathmatch or other cool mods . a game that will make us fps fans play all the wii u life time

Nintendo have their own FPS... It's called Geist. And before people say that you can't make a sequel to a pants shooter just take one look at the first Killzone (besides I actually liked Geist cause it was something different to everything else on the market)

Shigeru Miyamot is working on a new IP. Maybe its what you want

nah, they should just find a way to get an exclusive one to publish from someone else. Easier, less chance of backlash etc. My personal suggestion is Bulletstorm, since the sequel basically won't happen otherwise.

I wish Retro had started on this and not another overpriced 2D platformer.

I really don't care for 99% of the genre. Guess who doesn't give two hoots about the concept proposed by this thread?
